Title: New Ball Suggestion
Post by: Djarum on October 23, 2006, 02:49:24 AM
Well, it looks like a need a new ball. The lanes I have been bowling on as of late have plenty of head oil, but they have screamin backends. I've been having a hard time keeping my fired up or my freak right of headpin. The freak has always been a farily arcy ball, but man, on these lanes you would think it was a pearl reactive the way it comes back. So I need some suggestions. I'm not looking for a true light oil ball, but I am looking for something to tame down the backend reaction. I was thinking of maybe a Heat or desert heat, or maybe an orbit extreme. My crash would have been perfect, but it cracked all the way around. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have a high track, about 35 degrees of rotation, 10-12 rpms off the hand. I have an old purple reactive hammer, but it doesn't want to come up. I am more of a fan of strong cores with weak covers, but it seems that dry lane balls nowwadays all have weak cores and strong covers.

A ball that has been super even, no squirt is the Heat Blast. I have drilled quite a few of these lately for bowlers looking to go up the boards, and this was their choice and everyone has liked what they have seen so far. We have not touched the surface on one yet.....all factory.

Just watching everyone else bowl on the league, I still think that would be too much. I was thinking that it was more of a true medium ball, whereas I am looking for a light oil ball. How would it compare to the heat?

Jason,

I feel that the Heat Blast will fit the bill buddy! Just as long as you have it laid out with a weak layout. Maybe something 5 to 5.5" Pin from your PAP buddy! Hope this helps! God Bless You and have a great week!

The Heat likes raintain the energy until the later part of the lane.  Personally the heat and the fired up look alot alike in my opinion. I might actually have to go with everyone on the Heat Blast on this one.  It starts up sooner than the heat does and although the heat covers a few more boards the Heat Blast is actually a stronger ball.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've never been impressed with solid power plus reactive. The only luck I've ever had is the Power Plus pearl. The solid just seems to strong for mediums, but maybe a weaker drill may cure that up.
