New ball what to do????
« on: April 04, 2005, 05:55:52 PM »
Last sunday i bowled in my first Nabi tourney in las vegas and won... Along with winnig some money i think i won a new storm bowling ball since it was a storm challenge event... Right now i have track rule GP2 and track freakaziod...  I also recently bought a dynothane element Au79 from a friends recomendation and it is a great ball which i used to win the tourney...  It is drill with the pin over the fingers slightly off center toward the ring finger... the cg is kicked just slight out of the palm... I was wandering since i think i won a storm ball and if i get to choose what ball should i get.. I know this is a track forum but i think the most knowledgable people are on this forum thanks for the help...

Hey frock,

Congrats bud, good bowling!  I'd like to help you but since I'm "biased", I can't....GOTCHA stanski

I'd suggest an Ace to fit under your GP2 and above your AU.  I drilled a couple and it's a pretty nice smooth rolling ball with good hit.  I'm thinking along the lines of higher performance since you can buy the mid range balls at a lower price normally if you need later, know what I mean?  Thought the Vertigo might be a little close to the AU.  Hope this helps some....

I agree, unless they can still get an original X Factor. Drilled one for a guy who averages 170 and the ball makes a left turn for him compared to the rest of his Storm stuff....he loves it and has bowled pretty well with it.

Hey frock,

I'd ask for a 3-4 inch pin and about 3 top is fine.  Looking at your GP2, I'd say a pin out above ring on your ACE with the mass bias placed between the  thumb (strong position) and val would be fine.  This would give you some length with good backend reaction and should allow you to handle the med/heavy conditions while the GP2 is still for true heavy oil.  Trying to separate the ball from your current arsenal to fill the gap better bud.  How's that sound to you?

I agree totally, you cannot go wrong with the Ace to add to the equipment you already have. Since it has to be a Storm that you get, that would be the natural fit reactionwise that you would need.

I have a proshop i go to where they guys are really cool would probalby let me trade it for another ball... if they did that what would be a good ball like the xception?? and how to drill that and pin and top wieght thanks....

frockc,

If it is a $160 value it is probably something in their mid price range. If that ends up being the case you will have to pay a price difference in order to get a highend ball in return.

All of that said, with what you currently have I think the Xception would be a perfect fit. It will certainly give you a different reaction than anything else you have.

Hey frock,

If you're going to get the Xception, then I'd say to still get a longer pin about 3-4 and place it over ring but let's place the mass bias closer to thumb for some pretty good length.  We could then even polish it if needed and it will become a very nice med to maybe med drier ball for you under the FAZ.  Hope that helps bud...
