Slash: If you don't have one yet...you're missing out!
« on: April 05, 2005, 06:17:17 AM »
Wow, this is such a special ball.  I haven't been this excited throwing a bowling ball in a long time.  On reccomendation from Tony Chapman I have this ball, drilled, pin under and right of the finger(4 1/2 from the PAP) and a weighthole on the VAL 1 inch above my PAP.  In box condition this ball just gets down the lane so well which is very suprising for a dull ball, but the way this thing stores energy and gets around the corner is simply amazing.  It reminds me of the Green Messenger in the way it makes a recovery, just alot stronger.  While it is one of the biggest hooking balls I've thrown in a long time, it's so versatile and consistant in its reaction through lane transitions there's never a problem adjusting to it.  As long as the head oil is present, I can chase the oil line in all night.  Being a two hander(about 18-19mph speed, between 480-500rpms) alot of times equipment is just too strong, or too early.  The Slash is just right and is so compatible with me and my game.  I've used this ball in at least 9 different houses now, all ranging in lengths of a THS, and I just never want to put it down.

One thing I love about this ball is that flush pocket taps are very very rare.  I loved the Brunswick equipment I was throwing, but sometimes it just seemed like the perfect shot would leave an 8, 9, or 10 at the most awkward moments, costing me alot of big games.  I've dumped every ball I had from "The B" and am pursuing another track purchase or two(I'll most likely wait until the end of may for their run of spring equipment).  Who knows, I just might even get another Slash and go with a 5 1/2 pin to PAP placement and alot of polish(This should jacknife on the backend!).  Just need something as a Step down from my Slash and Revmaster.

This is truely one of the best balls I've thrown in a long time and I'd suggest it for anyone just looking for something new.

Welcome aboard.......

Slash may be one, if not the most, underrated ball out on the market from any manufacturer. It is so versatile, as you mentioned, a big hitter, for about $60 less.

Can't beat it!

You shouldn't be suprised. That core has been utilized in at least 2 companies releases and a hybrid variation by another. For your high rev rate that cover is sweet in that it does allow some down lane travel but without monster jumpiness. Average house bowler should have one of these as it covers such a wide spectrum of shots and caters to many styles for such a cheap price.

It sorta reminds me of the Vendetta Solid.  Maybe 3-4 boards more aggressive.

DP3:  Would I lead you off the path?    LOL!  I definately would take a look at the Heat for something less than the Slash and Revmaster. It's a great rolling ball that's very versatile.  And if you want something that will open up the entire lane, get an Xception.  You saw how it reacted on 1&2 at Cap.  I drilled another one and struck like crazy at Riverdale Sunday for Travel League.

Just let me know when you want to throw some more of my stuff.

Chappy...the HEAT is a definate in my bag for sure!  As soon as my school pays me back the money they owe me I'm going on a shopping spree!

XCeption would be nice, but I really have my eyes on a Sheer Havoc.  It looks like the ultimate replacement to the Assassin(one of my favorites).

Al aka CHT

Who is this?  Where did you see me throw it and why did't you like it?

DP3, I threw the Sheer quite bit last year in Florida for the TNBA Nationals and during the summer.  I liked how predictable it was and how well it hit. However, it was replaced by the Rule.  The Rule was simply a better matchup for me as I could do so much with it.  What I think you would also like would be the Agressive.

Yeah, I thought so too.  Actually I keep forgetting about the Arsenal series since I haven't seen much of them.  The Angular seems to be the bigger seller, only pecause people would rather see hook in the last 10-15 feet than distributed evenly about the lane.  That's one thing I love about the Slash though.  Although it reads the midlane very well and revs up early it doesn't give up any energy in the backend.  It's the ball that moves and keeps on moving.  No matter how broken down the condition is, I haven't seen it burn up yet!  I know when to put it away only when it just starts hooking TOO MUCH, and that's the type of true read that I like to see out of a ball, not something that's going to give me a false read by hook/stopping or getting lazy around the corner one shot, then hooking early when I make an adjustment on the lanes.

Love live the Slash!
