They were, and I dont want to say I was the firs to say it would happen but a few months ago I said we would see a return of particle once the USBC said when their new coverstock specifications would go in affect.

BS!!

You said particle was dead at Ebonite/Track/Columbia/Hammer!

Renege much?

What I said was right now Particle is dead at ebonite because they didnt feel they needed to use it with how strong they were able to make there reactive covers. I then also stated you will see it return once the usbc steps in and sets there limits on how poures the cover can be (the Ra limit a ball can have). This is what I stated a few months back.

You did not. Show me where you said that.

Once again, you try to make yourself out smarter than you really are.

I would love to show you where it was but the thread is gone seeing how it was back in the summer time when it was said. There was a thread asking if there was anything particle in the track line going into the new year. I said no there wasnt because of what ebonite was able to do with reactive covers. I then said however you may see them down the road when the USBC puts its rules on coverstocks in place.

Last year at this time, yes I would have said particle is completly dead at ebonite but after the summer and the info on how the USBC was putting a limit on the covers. I started saying then, you might see alot of particle stuff coming back out. The reason being with the Ra only being able to be so high (50) at 500 grit. This in return affects how well the ball can grab in oil. However if that micro peek (Ra) has a mass load of partcles it can grab harder. The thing with that is with the particle it doesnt cause the Ra to go over the depth limit but it gives you more grab in oil without cause the number to go higher.

I wonder if Carl came on here and said the same thing as Scoot...would it be credible enough then?

WHO.....has such a strong hand that they need a "particle" cover.    The last I understood was, that particle covers were made to "temper" the grab on the backend, and give a more smooth reaction on wet/dry, because the particles kept the ball surface up off the lane, resulting in less "grab" in the midlane and backends.  Last time I saw a "particle" on TV was when they were trying to get the ball through "really" dry midlanes.    To use a "particle" to combat a "long oil" condition is pi...ng in the wind

I believe that the particle balls blend the extreme wet dry or over under reactions because they read earlier in the pattern and tend to Not store as much energy which is what causes the over under, going from skidding and storing energy to the extreme dry high friction area and transferring rotational energy too quickly causing a reaction that is harder to control.

I have always described particle balls to customer as a studded snow tire. They read earlier because the ball actually has teeth in the coverstock.
