Hello all, I am a stroker. Some specs in profile. I am getting this ball Friday and was wandering about the best way to drill it. I can't throw pin under drillings because I track over the finger holes. I was thinking of a stacked leverage drilling or placing the pin and the mass bias in the number 2 position according to tracks drill sheet. Which drilling would give me the most backend reaction or do some of you track experts have some better suggestions. Any help is always appreciated. One more thing I know the ball has a 2 to 3 inch pin but can't remember the top weight.

Thanks for the help Rick, I'm looking at drilling an Unleashed for more medium conditions so I will probably keep the pin up. The Phenom I want to use on oil so I will try the pin under the ring finger and the MB about 2.5" from my PAP. Hopefully this will solve my medium heavy to heavy oil problems.

Hey DW,

Sounds good bud, I have mine 5x3 mb and even with the weaker pin, this ball still turns over pretty hard. The mass bias placement should help you pull up fairly quickly in the med/heavy stuff. Sorry it took so long to respond to you, didn't see it till now. Good luck...

I just got my first Track ball, The unleashed. I had it drilled by a reputable driller who loves track stuff. I got it for mid to heavy conditions.
It is drilled with a 3" pin under middle finger (Right handed) cg close to center of grip, MB almost 4" right of thumb.

Sort of like that. Left in box condition. Problem is the ball doesn't seem to like oil. Don't get me wrong if I bump it to the dry it rolls great and hits like a truck, but so does my polished Deuce. But if I get it into the middle (Heavier oil) it skates forever. My Deuce gives me similar reaction with about a 2 board weaker backend. Not really what I was looking for. I was planning on switching to all Track stuff, (Unleashed for oil, Crunchtime for med., etc.). I was thinking if this is a good med drilling, I would go with an Animal for heavy and drill a crunch time for length. I would appreciate your input because you really seem to know you stuff on track equipment. Thanks

Hi KR,

The drilling you have on the Unleashed is supposed to roll up and have a very controlled backend. It's what I call cheating the pin(crossing the center line of the grip). Bowlers with a lot of hand tend to like this drill
(ie. C.Barnes). This is why you may not be seeing the backend or finish for this ball, it actually is meant for a bowler to play more right vs having to stand way left and cross a lot of boards. If you can utilize it for med conditions and your happy with it, then okay but just to let you know that is considered a weak drill. BTW, I personally recommend the Unleashed for med/heavy conditions, not true heavy. It has less particle then the Phenom.

If you like the Unleashed as is, the Animal drilled for heavy should fit into your arsenal well. However, I'd suggest a stronger drill pattern with the pin under fingers and mass bias kicked right to your val or past it for even earlier roll for the heavier oil. Hope this helps...

Edit: Forgot to mention that the Animal comes a little shiny, covered with Clean and Sheen. Make sure you adjust the cover as needed for the heavier oil, thanks.
