SE cover vs. Up-Rising
« on: November 15, 2008, 04:41:41 AM »
Has something been added to the SE cover to make it react stronger than the Up-Rising or is the difference in reaction due to the SE being 4000 grit with no polish?

If I had an SE drilled #1 with polish would it react differently than an Up-Rising drilled #1 oob?

I have the Rising, Up-Rising and the SE all drilled with the #1 layout and I have all three polished up pretty good (don't see much oil here in the San Antonio area).  So far, I have been pretty impressed with the SE.  It flat out hooks even with the polish on it.  It is about a 4 and 2 move left off of my Up-Rising which is about a 2 and 1 move left of my Rising.  So, to answer your question, there is enough difference between the 2 to justify having both drilled the same way with the same surface.  Hope this helps.

The OOB on the UpRising is 4000 w/factory polish. The OOB on the Rising SE is 4000, no polish. The UpRising has the UP Gen 2 coverstock, the SE has the UP Gen 2 pearl coverstock, so it is basically a pearlized version of the UpRising cover, with no polish.
Like Rob said, the core numbers are stronger in the SE. The core and cover on this ball compliment each other very well. Extremely strong.
I have #1 on both an SE and UpRising. I took the UpRising to 1000 with no polish. With this ball at 1000, they both read at about the same point on the lane with the SE making a much stronger move.

I hear the early reports from the Vegas tournaments that the SE is an outstanding ball, night and day different reaction from the Uprising.

This ball is tempting but I have to many as it is. I love both my Up-risings tho. When true medium oil or higher is present, those two balls are hard to beat
