blue heat

i was wondering if anyone has been using a blue heat for an extended period and how succesful you are with it.  mine had a nice reaction for about 21 games but now it just slides and never grabs the lane.  ive tried cleaning, soaking in hot water, dishwasher and it still slides.  i have an old triton heat that somebody gave me and has hardly ever been cleaned, and it makes the blue heat look like a spare ball.

Sound like there isn't enough oil for it and it is burning up, if the Triton Heat is hooking more.

Agreed. If the heat is hooking more than the Blue, there is not enough oil for the Blue Heat. The Blue is a medium load particle (same load as the GP2, and we all know how much that ball hooks) which means it will love the oil as it can grab the lane quick with all the particles, but dry lanes makes it grab too quick and lose energy way too early in the lane, thus why it looks likes its doing nothing....the Heat on the other hand is made to skid through the heads and is a medium oil ball at best.

tickleit,

Try having a light coat of compound (Track's Clean n Sheen is perfect). This will help the ball retain some energy down the lane. As the others mentioned, it definately sounds like it is burning up.

if my blue heat is burning up would a columbia action in out of the box condition burn up too?  2 guys on my team were using them, one shot 696

I would have to say that in YOUR hands, the Action probably would burn up. The reason that your team mates Action may not have been burning up is due to how they release the ball. If they have a lower track, then their ball won't burn up whereas yours would. Their release could be condusive to allowing the ball to go longer before making it's move. It all depends on how much of the ball is in contact with the lane as it travels towards the pins. This contact determines how soon or later the ball will react or if it will react at all. This is where axis tilt and rotation come into play. But that can turn into a very long discussion.

As the other guys said, it is probably burning up. Try what Excaliber said and throw a bit of compound on it, see what happens then.

drrev  you might be right about the ball polishing itself.  i may be wrong but i just dont see it burning up.  it wasnt burning up the first 4 weeks i used it.  it made a strong move to the pocket and i averaged 212 with it. i dont think the oil pattern is much different, its been the same easy shot every week.  my teamates laugh now when i pull the blue out.
i dont have access to a ball spinner.  our pro shop guy has one but he is pretty much unaccesible so the scotchbrite idea is out.  maybe i should just get another heat, i averaged 201 and shot my first 300 with it.  its versatile and very low maintenance.
ive thought about an action packed and was wondering how it would compare with my old triton heat?

You dont have to use a spinner for one to sand a ball. The ball sounds like it is burning up. Just because you cant see that it is burning up does not mean that it isnt. The ball may be burning up befor you can even see it. Try what EX (Carl) said. I mean I know he loves his and it is very consistant and out of all the balls he has used and replaced. He thinks that to be one of the last. I know he loves it. He wouldnt even sell me it when I bought 5 balls of him. I looked and said toss in the blue heat. He looked at me and said "UMMMMM NO!!"
I said why he says its his. So try what he said.
