Not sure if this has been released yet, but considering I'm pretty plugged into the industry and I hadn't heard this golden nugget until tonight I thought I would share the information to the other Track fiends.

From what I was told, Track finally has a really good bowler to rep their brand on the Exempt Tour: Michael Fagan.

Personally, I think the Track equipment will compliment what he does quite well and it should be really interesting to see how he does next season.

Don't get me wrong, Michael Fagan is a fantastic bowler and great for track. But how can you say they finally got a great bowler? Mitch Beasley is very good. Obviously he didn't make shows, but he is an exempt bowler. Kudos to Track for Michael Fagan.

Just watch, if they drop mitch he will try out another company and make seven or eight shows next season and win a couple titles. Then everyone will be like "man that Mitch Beasley is good! Wish he was still on our staff...."

However, i am still very interested in seeing Mike throw track stuff...

I know Mitch is a great bowler, but he has yet to consistently be a top 20 bowler on the tour. I think Fagan has the ability to be a top 15 talent with the right guidance and equipment. Overall, I think it's a good move, and as far as I know Mitch is still on staff and they picked up a great young bowler in Craig Hanson. So either way the future for Track is looking good.

Mitch is extremely faithful and has been with Track for a long time. He's also a very good bowler with alot of potential still on tour. Remember he's still a "young" touring pro who has kept his exemption unlike other "proven" tour veterans and titleists.

Alot of the staffers under the ebonite umbrella threw alot of track balls last year on tour during the week. Unfortunately when they made shows they could not use them.  Tommy Jones used so much of it I thought for sure he would be using it exclusively this year.

O.K., I will go ahead and ask the obvious. Why can't a staffer use Track on a show. I understand the underlying marketing issues, but surely, winning with an Ebo product is more important than which Ebo product is in the winners hand. Moreover, the staffers should be more concerned about winning than selling a ball.Don't tell me they are sandbagging too.

I think the agreement is that you can use anything under the Ebonite umbrella, but must use the company you are signed to once you make tv.  I could be mistaken though.

That seems like a bad rule for the company as a whole. Pro bowls all week with one or two particular balls, and then, despite his success, he has to change to the company he is signed  with. At such a high level of competitiveness, and at the pinnacle of the sport, this policy seems rather stupid.

Well if that is the rule it sounds like E is shooting themselves in the foot. If they make tv with certain equipment, there is a reason for it the equipment matched up well with the lanes and how the bowler used it. And if i remember correctly, i still see wes throwing a natural for his spare ball on tv. Wonder if storm uses the same type of policy? All in all it seems somewhat unsporting and like you are setting yourself up for guys like WRW who can use the same balls on tv that they used to qualify.

That is exactly what they have to do. I believe last year Fagan and Scroggins could use anything they wanted because when they signed it was specified in there contract. They signed with Ebonite International, not a particular brand.

Yeah, I agree that if a particular brand under the Ebonite umbrella is working better at a given stop and a staffer is forced to throw a particular brand because that's what they signed a contract to do seems ludicrous in terms of brand management.

Personally, I'd rather have the best bowler under my corporate umbrella than have a guy that makes the show a lot but can't finish the deal. A Columbia Ball sold is still a sale for Ebonite as a whole.

Why shoot yourself in the foot?

From what I have heard it doesnt matter!! All the ebonite brands can throw any ebonite brand during the tournement. Pretty sure Ronnie Russell used Razors from hammer when he finish 2nd, and was wearing columbia300 patch.  This year I spent alot of time at the US Open, watching Barnes throw 505C, Bill Oneil throwing 715A, Tommy Jones using Bedlam.
