Track Ball Cleaners

What would be a good start up kit for a person with a ball spinner? Clean and Smooth, Clean and Sheen,and Clean and Polish?? Any ideas??  Currently use Storm Steps 1,2,3 and Xtra Shine.

If you are only looking to get a couple, I would go with Clean and Sheen and Clean and Polish. I will say though that each and every polish/cleaner has its spot, and it would not be a bad idea to try some little bottles of each one before you buy the pro shop size to see which ones you like, but you should like most if not all of them. They are teriffic! I had the Storm 1-2-3 as well and ditched it as soon as I tried the Track line, almost no comparison in my mind.

For starters I would say you HAVE to have Clean n Dull to clean balls with. Nothing is better. Then get yourself Clean n Smooth for a duller finish. A little Delayed Reaction for a longer, smoother breakpoint and then Track Magic for the strong snapping breakpoint.


Clint is correct though, everything in their line has its place. If it is in your means try to get a little of each and decide what you like best.

I am fairly certain that Clean and DUll is Track's only cleaner. All the rest may clean the ball but they are basically surface manipulators. Use them with all the cautions that concept entails. READ THE DIRECTIONS.

That said, I think Clean and Dull is the best deep cleaner on the market, specific to bowling balls. The name is a misnomer, because as far as I can tell, it does not dull pearls or any polished balls, unless you use it with a nylon pad.

I use Clean and Sheen to remove sanding marks and put about a 1000+ grit shine on balls.

I use Clean and Smooth to ever so slightly dull polished balls; it is supposed to finish balls to about 1500 grit. If you keep pressing pretty hard, it will put a light shine on the ball.

charlest, don't forget there is Reaction Plus, that is a cleaner, but I still prefer Clean n Dull. It does not alter the surface of a bowling ball. I think they picked a bad name for it.

Hey htotheizzo,

I personally have "all" the various polish and cleaners in the shop to try and duplicate the Track covers for my customers.  On the majority though, I sell more Clean and Polish, Reaction Plus and Clean and Dull.  These 3 tend to cover the range it seems, shiny, same surface and dull.  Hope this helps...

I regularly use Clean and Dull as my main serious cleaner (no spinner,just by hand).  It really pulls the grime out.  It may just be me, but on my polished Depth Charge, it does seem to reduce the shine just ever so slightly, but I see no difference on my Phenom Unleashed.  I'm thinking that for the DC, I might have to lightly hit it with Magic Shine to keep the length after using the Clean and Dull.  BTW, I just recently got both of these balls, and they are both awesome with strong backends.  Couldn't be happier, at least for now ;-)

Yes, I did forget it. Sorry. I'm not sure I ever used it.
I agree with you 100% about Clean and Dull.

Also I like using it to partially re-surface balls that don't need to be sanded down to 180 grit, & don't have really deep gouges. I put some C & D on a 320 grit, maroon nylon pad, put the ball on the spinner. It refreshes some of the worst balls, does a reasonable oil removal, without having to go to extremes. Then you can finish the ball up to whatever grit and polish you like.

I have not had Clean n Dull alter the surface of a ball, ever. Could it be that your DC just had absorbed some oil and made its appearance slightly more polished and that the clean n dull just removed that oil from the surface?

that is a possibility, so I'll keep an eye on the DC to see if regular use of Clean and Dull exhibits any noticable change in the shine.  The slight change in the DC that I "might" have seen  was from the first use of Clean and Dull, and the ball was a used ball when I got it.  So, it is very possible that your idea is right, or at the least my eyes still have holiday hangover, lol.  I've previously used this cleaner on other polished balls, and did not see any change on them.
