Track Clean N' Dull for a Polished Ball?
« on: May 09, 2005, 08:18:13 AM »
Hey guys & gals,

Last week, Rick polished my Animal with Clean N' Polish on the shop spinner. So far I have practiced 6 games with it. I cleaned the ball with Clean N' Dull with a paper towel like I do with all of my equipment.

Here's the question...I like the reaction I get with the Polish on the ball, gets down the lane longer and I see a more sharper backend reaction. Will the Clean N' Dull be too much? I want to keep the ball in a polished state till the ball starts to dull up from mileage. Will Clean N' Dull "Dull," the ball a little bit even if it is used as my primary cleaner for polished balls as well?

Thanks everyone!

Track Clean n Dull is designed to keep the same finish on the ball by just removing dirt and grime. Stay with Clean and Polish if you like what it does to your reaction!

Ramtart,

Clean n Dull is the best cleaner out bud. It will not change the surface. Reaction Plus is good, however, slowly but surely it will continue adding more and more gloss to the ball. Clean n Dull does not do this.

So why is it called Clean N' DULL if it does not dull the ball more?

agreed with x

i use the CND on my SLASH and man you talk about kicking it up a notch. and i have used it on my polish balls as a cleaner and it did nothing for it but clean it. its great for your oil dulls i.e. oil balls and it will give you like 3 or 4 more boards of hold in oil.

Clean and dull is probably as already stated one of the best cleaners. it picks up everything off dull and shiney stuff. it does a fantastic job. i use it in my shop and it's honestly really good.

I also have reaction plus and as stated it polishes slightly. sort of a 320 gloss.

Also alot of times i will take a ball example a columbia bully and i want to make the surface a little more aggressive than the box finish. I will hit the ball with 800 wetsanding and then take a little drop of clean and dull. it will get rid of some of the sanding lines and it will increase energy rention and increase backend and hit, it helps to prevent the coverstock from going balls out and burning off energy.

quote:
It will slightly polish the ball. So it cleans and adds a tad of length if it's a dull ball (and will lighly polish it eventually) or if it's a polished ball, it will keep it polished. It makes the ball really tacky, so it will increase the backend aggressiveness in most all balls.

Straight from Track's website:
http://www.trackbowling.com/gear/cleaners.cfm

"Reaction Plus
A great product for cleaning and retaining tackiness in one step. This cleaner will not alter the surface of the ball (Polished balls remain polished and dull balls remain dull). Reaction Plus is equally effective when applied by hand or on the ball spinner."

How does it eventually polish a ball if it will not alter the surface of the ball?

Sir,

I know what the products say, and I know what they do.
If reaction plus is used (particularly on a spinner) it will add a slight gloss to any surface you use it on. If I had to compare it to another product I would say it is alot like Neo Tac's Renew It.

I have not had Clean n Dull change the surface on a ball in the 3 years I have been using it.

I'm just curious why Track doesn't state that then.  Do they not know what their own products can and cannot do?

I do not know if they do, but I definately know that I do.

If you really want to get to the bottom of it just ask the people here that have used each of them.

Does Clean n Dull change the surface of a ball when you use it to clean?

Does reaction plus change the surface of a ball when you use it to clean?

I'll answer first:

#1- NO, it doesn't

#2- Yes it does.

Hey this is awesome guys...thanks for all the responses.

I will keep cleaning my equipment with "Clean N' Dull."

Ok, here's another question...What will applying "Clean N' Polish," by hand with a paper towel or terry towel do to the ball? I ask this, because we applied "Clean N' Polish," on a spinner initially.

Would applying Clean N' Polish by hand help maintain the polished state of the ball after every set?

Thanks again!

"I cleaned the ball with Clean N' Dull with a paper towel like I do with all of my equipment"

exactly what grit is your paper towel? I find that Bounty or Viva will not change the surface, but if you try WalMart or Sam's, it's about 400 grit.................(that's a joke, son.......................)
Just bowl!
