I just picked up a Track NRg at a lawn sale which is in pretty decent shape. Just wondering if I should plug and drill this ball. Does anyone have experience with it?

I used to love that ball.  From what I remember, it was clean through the heads with good pick up in the midlane.  decent backend reaction too.  It went under my Critical Mass

Indeed. Someone gave me an NRG when I was growing up.  Fantastic ball-likely one of Tracks' best of all time.  If they were to remake it, I'd be at the front of the line to get one.

Let me just throw in a sentimental shout out to the NRg. God, what a great ball. It's the one ball that would bring me back to Track, my very favorite ball of all time....

If Track reproduced the ball as it was, it would be very weak. At least twice as much oil is now applied to the lane. If we changed it, it wouldn't be the same ball. Retro releases are nice but I remember when the Heat was released as it. It was nothing like I remembered because lane conditions changed so much in just six or seven years, forget about 13.

I'm sure they could tweak it a bit to match today's standards.  I know that isn't in Tracks' plans, but I just wanted say how great that ball was.

When you tweak the remake, then people are unhappy about that. Like the Puma and Nitro R2 remakes. Both were awesome balls but were not the original.
The Nrg was a great ball.
X, being a high rev player, you may be one of the few who would benefit from it being an exact replica.

Thanks everybody for the info.
BBR says 'matte' was the OOB on this ball. Matte, I'm assuming, is around 600 grit? Or lower? The one I have seems polished and not matte. Did anyone who had an NRG change the surface for a better result?
