I can't wait for the day that I bowl in league...

like I bowl in practice!!!

Today was another one of those days...go to the bowling center this afternoon, after they've already oiled for league...this was kinda like cheating since I bowled league at 6 PM.

Got some extra time so I thought I would play with the coverstocks of my Xception and Untamed.  Hit the Untamed with green scotch brite and give it a nice polish then hit the Xception with the blue scotch brite and posish it more so than the Untamed.

I get a lane with fresh oil and roll the first game with the Untamed...unbelievable reaction, unlike any I've had with it since I got it...roll 217.

Next game, I pick up the Xception...WOW!  This must be what they meant when they said go long and snap!!!  Nothing but pocket shots...roll 222.

Third game, I take turns rolling each ball...roll 228.

I'm thinking this could be a career night tonight...I've got great reaction with both balls and seem to be matched up perfectly!!!

We start our league practice session and I notice my reaction is not what it was in the previous three games...yes, this is a different pair of lanes but also same fresh oil pattern as the one I rolled on earlier.  I'm kinda puzzled at this point and then league starts...and I become even more puzzled.

I only hit the pocket twice in the first game, both carried for strikes, and leave six opens in game #1...a season low 136!

Second game starts, and all of a sudden, the reaction is back!  Nothing but solid pocket shots, even though they didn't all carry...a clean game...221.

Now I'm thinking I can still salvage an average night with a decent third game.  Reaction hangs in there for about half the game, then it all but disappears very much like the first game.  I struggle and fight to finish with a 177, and a series of 534, 12 below my average.

I still managed to average 200 for the six games despite the 136.

Only two more weeks of league...

Your problems in league could just be the different pace you bowl at as opposed to the pace you bowl at during practice. When you bowl practice, do you pace yourself at all? If not, you should try to space out your bowling a bit.

Bowling is a game of feel and memory. When you bowl in league your frames are spaced out more. When you practice, try bowling at a slower pace, it will help your muscle memory/feel.
