On a whim...I got an Animal...
« on: September 18, 2004, 03:12:47 PM »
Was on vacation this week, well, some think I'm on vacation even when I'm working.  Anyway, had some time away from work this week, went out of town with the GF to visit one of her friend.  Her friend and BF wanted to go bowling one night.  Well, I didn't have any of my balls with me and no shoes but went anyway.  I bowled one game with a house ball and decided I wasn't doing that anymore.  Went over to the Pro Shop and low and behold, an Animal sitting on the "20% OFF" table.  I thought, I'm on vacation, I didn't get to go to the beach like I had planned (Hurricane Ivan made me change my plans), I've got some extra cash in my pocket I had saved up for my vacation, what the heck!  Talked to the shop owner about my style, what I already had, and what I wanted out of this ball.  We decided on a drill pattern, then he asked if I knew my measurements.  I told him I could get close but if he wanted to re-measure me that would be fine.  Went through the measuring schpill and off to the drill he went.  In just a short time (less than it took my GF, her friend, and her friend's BF to bowl one game), I had a new ball!  Got to throw a couple of games with it to try it out...even with house shoes that had me "off balance" and an "unfamiliar" bowling alley, I could tell I was going to like this ball!  Well, this evening I had a few minutes and stopped by my regular bowling center and rolled a game with my shoes under familiar conditions.  All I can say is...WOW!  A very wise investment indeed!  I'll post more later...

Hey VT,

This should be the strongest ball in your bag now.  If you need, don't be afraid to adjust the coverstock as needed(dulled or shined).  The ball is very responsive to the various grits.

VT: Wise decision on the Animal. I have one myself and it's a great ball for heavy oil. Only problem I've found is for one of the two houses I bowl at, the ball is best for only the first game. Because when the head oil is gone, put this ball back in the bag. But I can't complain when those two games in that league have been 276-236 with the Animal, now can I????

Rolled the Animal in league last night...highest series of the year for me so far (7 weeks)...only one game under 200 but it was still above my average!
