I have a Rule with 3-1/2 inch pin, drilled with pin above the fingers,on the center line. The cg is on the grip center and mb just right of the thumb.
whether dull or polished it just doesn't make a strong move on the back
unless they are freshly stripped, and then only for a few frames. The conditions are generally medium oil mostly flat,no area to the right. I am thinking this may be too mild of a drilling for this ball. My span is 4-1/4 and p-a-p is 5-1/4 over 1-1/2 up. If anyone has a suggestion I appreciate your help.

That layout is more for length with a strong backend. A ball drilled to react strongly in the backend usually does not do well unless it encounters a stripped area in the back of the lane. If you are on a flat shot that does not have room outside you will probably need the Rule to get into an earlier roll with a continuout arc on the backend.

The pin distance is more than likely too far from PAP to start up early (no matter the surface)....it is probably 5 inches from PAP. The MB is probably close to 5 inches from PAP as well....if not further! The layout that will probably work better for the condition you described is to have the pin about
3 3/4- 4 inches from PAP....keep it even or slightly below your finger line. The MB will need to be placed closer to your VAL, this will help the ball start up quicker. Actually placing the MB on your VAL may be a better solution. It should end up having the MB be about 3 inches from PAP.

I also want to second what Clint said. If you have not tried various surface adjustments do so before plugging the ball. If those adjustments do not work then plugging the ball is going to be your best solution.
