I am bowling on PBA pattern #2 on wood with 22 Feet of Guardian this weekend. I will let everyone know how they play and what works best.
In practice today my Angular worked very good along with my Desert Heats.
I have a Threat and Sheer Havoc drilled 5 1/2 by 2 and they both looked great playing anywhere from 15 to 2 with hand or 4 to 2 with no hand.
The gutter plays very good as long as the ball gets through the heads very clean and the ball doesn't snap on the backend.
I bowl A squad and I will give my reviews after I get done.

Go get em Mitch. BTW...what kind of look does the PBA pattern #2 give you? So I'm guessing playing deep on this pattern is probably a no-no huh? Good luck!

Goodluck Mitch!
It has been my experience with guardian that the heads go away very fast! Anyone else notice this?

Yes! Guardian is the softest surface put on a lane. It hooks early and the ball burns energy in the heads very badly. The challange is to have the ball store energy without trying to snap on the backend. I am going to go to sleep so I can bowl early in the morning.

Go whack'em Mitch.
Ex, guardian does burn a little quick. The worst part is if it's not treated and maintained properly, ours actually had holes burned right thru them. They dried up and cracked, had to bowl around it...

Is Mitch any relation to Jeff Beasley out of the south region? I know either Mitch or Jeff did some stuff with Air Force bowling team... can't remember which... then they went and changed the Military competition to hold it in conjunction with Team Usa qualifing, so PBA members weren't allowed.

My home bowling alley just removed the Guardian for last season after years of having it on for 4-5 years...bubbling, burns, etc.....I don't really know about it...but I have seen where the Guardian surface tends to break down quicker.

Sorry this is kind of late but work has been stupid this week.
I had a great reaction with a threat, sheer havoc, unleashed, and aggressive.
I bowled well but could not carry to save my life. I left soo many ten pins I had nightmares about them. If I had the ball hooking smoothly I left a flat ten because the ball used too much energy in the Guardian and If I got it down the lane better I stoned a ten or left the nine pin.
It was a very frustrating day on Sunday morning not carrying well. I went three games where I only missed the hole once and shot a big 30 over.
I was using balls with holes and I should have been using balls with no weight holes. I ended up 24 and lost my lead to Del who finished up 8th. Del had to roll off for the last spot Saturday night and made it with a very good game. He bowled great on Sunday morning to move up into the cut and bowled well in match play but lost in the second match.
We will be bowling on Pattern 5 this weekend on Pro Anvil lanes in Abiline Tx.
