Animal Untamed mini review
« on: September 29, 2004, 02:20:21 PM »
Although most faithful Track users have one by now, I will still give my input based off a few weeks of use. I feel after using everything that was sent to me enough I can compare and contrast between the balls. My stats are 17-18 MPH, very high track (1/8 of an inch from the fingers, 1/16 or less from the thumb). I lay out all my bowling balls exactly the same. The only difference is tops, covers, etc. All balls have the pin just below my ring finger, cg in the palm, mass bias either left of my thumb or under my thumb. Untamed #1 is out of box finish. Mass bias ended up under the thumb. I threw the Rule first and then picked up the Untamed to give me an apples to apples comparison (Reactive vs Reactive) Untamed is always a little weaker on heavier patters (obviously) but is a great compliemt to the Rule. You can use the Untamed right behind the Rule, but it will still try to turn early when it encounters dry. Ball gives nice pop and is pretty easy to read its reaction. Untamed #2 is polished, mass bias left of my thumb. Ball clears the heads with EASE! Ball will get down the lane for you and will still turn the corner, as every Track ball will do for you. Untamed #2 for me DOES NOT LIKE CARRYDOWN at all. Might just be me or the way the ball is punched out, but any carrydown will send this ball to my bag quickly. Fresh backends will make this ball look like a MONSTER though. You just need to use it on the correct lane condition.

As ALWAYS, if you have any questions, please write or contact me as I will get back to you as time allows.

Have a great day!

Heh, I assume your profile is relatively old (because it says: "Use only Hammer products") considering you've just revied 8 (2x4) different Track bowling balls.  My driller drills all of my equipment the same as well (pin under ring, MB 3 1/2" from PAP).  I really like this method because it helps elimate any overlapping.

How far is your PAP?  By indicating the location of your PAP, we can get an idea of the pin to PAP distance and MB to PAP distance.

Anyways, I'd just like to know if it would be possible for you to make videos of the bowling balls you've just reviewed.  If you can, I think it would be an excellent way to show people the differences in balls reactions.

OOPS overlooked my profile, I have updated it, THANKS! I unfortunately do not have the equipment necessary to post videos, although I thought about purchasing some new computer equipment and video camera while building my new shop, but $$ has been very tight (3 kids and a wife!!) and I may look into it in the future. My PAP (honestly have not checked my new Track stuff) was 5 inches over, 1/2 up. It may have changed as I am tracking slightly higher with my Track equipment, but should not have changed much.

Thanks!

Clint, nice review. The Untamed is a great ball. I think slightly overlooked because of the release date, but many bowlers are starting to pick up on it now.

Agree with both of you as The Untamed is overlooked because of its release date. I would love to see the video you have to see the Untamed backs off even with a stronger drilling than I have. Any info I can pass to my clients is helpful
Thanks!
