Newguy and acolytes: I'm going to rant for a few minutes, to Phil's benefit. For several years, the best selling balls in the areas I bowled in were Track. This is several years ago, but the Track Magic line had more of the good bowlers in the metro areas I was in buying and using it than any other line at the time. The owners/operators of no less than 6 proshops agreed that at the time, Track was making the best equipment for the good house bowler around and they were selling more Track than even Storm equipment. I know people who stopped buying anything but Track for a while.
Then there were changes at Track. The Money was...average. The EZ Money was very good but very specialized, and the Freak line came out. The Freak itself was a hit, as was the Freak Out. But after that, frankly, the stuff was not as good. There has not been, in my opinion (and several other folks who used to live with Track stuff) anything as good on mediumish house conditions as the Hex for example. NIB Voodoos on ebay go for Lane Onescque numbers. Something happened to Track over the intervening period which hurt its sales and, in my opinion, its product. (I have tried the Animal, Exception, Mutant, Crunch, Slash, the Animal Untamed, Hexplosion, Rule, Robo Rule, Rule Delta 1, and Crunch Time for some substantial period and had brief flings with others.) Put simply, the quality has been, at best, uneven and there have been some real clinkers (remember, there will be some people who like any piece of equipment).
While Dynothane's recent offerings have been too "hook monsterish" for me, the quality has been pretty consistently good since Phil took over. Not all winners, but better. My view is that Phil's return to Track will help, just looking at the track record (pun intended).
