This is no rumor. This just came from my proshop guy, Beans' email! I can't believe it.. sorry to break the news to everyone. I've been dying to hear it myself :\ ...
----- Original
Subject: TRACK PHOENIX BALL RELEASE
Dear Ebonite International, Inc. Consumer Product Distributor:
One of the many issues caught in the Columbia transition was the Track Phoenix ball introduction. When asked, we told many of you that we would be testing that ball before making a “go/no-go†decision regarding it’s release. Testing has now been completed. We will not be releasing this ball.
Please cancel any orders that you may have placed for the Track Phoenix.
There have also been some questions regarding the new Columbia “Ten†ball that was pending introduction. This ball will not be released.
Please pass this information on to your pro shop customers as you deem appropriate.
Sorry for the abruptness of these announcements, but we felt it very important that we keep you as informed as possible.
CHEERS!

They are probably not releasing it because both those balls smoke the current Hammer/Ebonite line. There was going to be a new Dyno Back Vendetta coming out too, that will be probably be squashed as well. It just makes me ill thinking about it. I think I might give Roto a try. They haven't totally sold out yet.

Wow...now there's no doubt to me that these two balls ('specially the Phoenix) would be good, but that they would smoke the Total NV, Black Widow, No Mercy, and One series? Yeah, in your dreams.

When a company has deep pockets and can pay the best bowlers in the world to use their equipment; it does not mean the balls are any good. If it makes you feel more secure in your own bowling that is your opinion.

Does this mean the Phoenix I have coming next Wednesday will be worth $600 like the NV that sold on ebay yesterday?

But I thought the only thing that made a ball good was if Tommy Jones used it! Must copy Tommy Jones at all times!

I doubt that, if the balls were great, Ebonite would release and PUSH them. Don't forget they ARE Track/Columbia/Dyno now as well. They're a business, not a sorority.

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

those 2 are far from rare...yet, they are still on ebay and on multiple internet sites. When a ball stops appearing on ebay, then its rare!! LOL..

Are there any videos of anyone throwing a Phoenix here (for the few that have it)? I haven't noticed anyone post one yet (unless I missed it).

That is sad news. I really like Track equipment. Forget Ebonite.
I did find this out: If you match up well with Track, give Morich a try. You won't regret it. The Awesome series are well designed/engineered balls.

Geez that sucks. The Phoenix was the First Track ball that I was actually excited about in a while. I was actually planning on getting one.

I believe you still can.. If you go to bowlinglasvegas.com, I believe they still have some available..

I have a feeling that it's nothing "sinister" going on. I believe that Ebonite just decided that it would be easier to cancel the Phoenix than spend the time and effort trying to match the coverstock Track came up with. Plus, given their success as of late, I have to believe that a bit of hubris might be present; the idea that "we can do better". From what I've been reading, Ebonite is going to continue the Track line but with their own formulations. For better or worse I guess. It's too bad as the Phoenix was quite interesting.

Yes it is sad. The ball is very nice from what Carl has been relaying to me. He's been shooting lights out in a few different houses with this piece. I never did receive mine. They said they under produced due to large distributor buy ins which (business wise) if I were Ebonite, I'd fulfill these orders at San Antonio (because Col can duplicate these without a problem), keep my distributors happy which in turn would keep the public happy. After this, proceed with my own designs for the future, doesn't that make more sense instead of losing out on all the sales that your customers want? I don't know guys....makes me think twice about joining this team.
A piece of inside info, reps from companies are pumped to push product to distributors (not easy to do). Distributors have learned in the past that some pieces will sell well and some don't, simple as that. They get stuck blowing out and losing money on some pieces so when you have a very good distributor buy-in (a manufacturer's primary customer), it's very important to keep that customer happy, right?
I feel Phil has made a very good piece here, get yours while you can. I'm still going to try...

If they quoted you $175 plus shipping you got a better deal than me. Don't know who you talked to, but both the owner and his helper quoted me a different price.
