Chitown, wasn't that with Del in charge? Now that Phil is running things maybe your dream ball has a chance....

Mike C

Yes this was my dream ball.  I did send them a bunch of e-mails about it when Del was there.  The ball was not going to get made.

I sent Phil an e-mail about this very same topic a while ago.  He didn't rule it out but said that for now Track was going to focus on new designs and what not.

I told him about the Animal core in a reactive cover.  I said this would be the biggest selling ball of the year.  I still believe that.

When I contacted Track about this ball when Del was running it I got nothing but excuses on how the ball would be too over/under.  They told me that the core was too strong to be used with a reactive cover.  yet they come out with the Delta 1 which had a very strong core.  It was a load of BS.

I eventually went to throwing Hammers.

Sometimes these top level company guys make dumb moves.  Why not listen to the bowlers who buy the balls?

How many of you guys would like to see the ANIMAL core in a reactive cover?  I would buy a few of them.

Chi,

Why in the world would any CEO listen to what one person would buy? They will never do that, and shouldn't. Just because YOU think they should make it does not mean that it would be profitable.

Should have named the Inertia the Pheonix instead, since its the right color scheme for the name.  If its a "soaker" they should have named it Neptune or Posiden or something.

It hope its green and blue.

More like Dyno was already almost Track. Look at a lot of the core designs for Dyno. The Vendetta series used the Elite/Hex/Crunch Time core, The Anomoly/ Thing core is a modified Heat Tri Core, etc etc etc. Phil knows what works, and that's what he's going to do. I can't wait for the new weightblock, and if this is a Soaker shootoff, more power to us!

Jeremy

Wait a sec, didn't Phil start out at Track, and design at least the core used in the vendetta?  Heck, didn't Phil FOUND Track??!?I could be wrong, but I thought he did!

splendorlex,

AS far as I remember, Columbia bought the StarTrak company
http://www.bowlingballreviews.com/search.asp?isCurrent=0&companyID=50
and turned it into Track; I am not sure when Phil Cardinale entered the picture.

In the PBA approved equipment list,
http://www.pba.com/resources/ApprovedEquipment.asp?ID=24,
the earliest Track ball is the Trackster, approved 1/9/89.

newguy, can you tell us when you, Track and Columbia "got together" initially?

The Phoenix is a bird that rises from the ashes of its previous incarnation.

This is Phil's (Mr. C's) work (the name, that is, and the ball, of ocurse!), as I'd guess he sees himself being re-incarnated into and within the Columbia corporate entity, once again.

Hmmm, I wonder if we'll see the re-incarnation of likes of THE "Heat" once more also?????

Would have no complaints if he did.  Triton Heat was my favorite ball until the heat remake came out.  Now the Heat remake is my favorite.

Columbia did not buy the Star Trak co. I started Track in Sep 1988 in Solon Ohio and sold it to Columbia in 1992, relocated to San Antonio in Jan 1993.

My first Track ball was the Shark. That ball, for me, was flat out awesome. I heard, at the time, that Mo Pinel designed the core for the Shark. Newguy, is there any truth to that?

Thank you! Fascinating.

So Did Columbia merge Star-Trak and your Track?
Didn't Star-Trak "become", through whatever machinations, Track?
Did you buy Star-Trak, if you can reveal that info?

Thank you, in any case.

FYI, in my opinion, your contributions, Phil, to bowling will NOT be forgotten, no matter how deep within any corporation they may be buried temporarily.

Phil just said that star trak is not track. I also new phil stated track back in solon. I lived by there and my dad would tell me you could go right up there and get that stuff in the early 90's right from the company.

USBC approved today. Boy it really rolls great, 2 drilling and really totally different looks down the lane. I'll try it in league Thursday night. Just one of the "perks" If it rolls great I'll delay the launch so I can use it in tournaments and have an advantage....no wait I'm left handed so scrap the need for an advantage.

I don't think he said exactly that. I've heard from  many people say specifically that Star-Trak became Track. Columbia might have merged the two after Phil sold Track to Columbia. Stranger thigns have happened. 15 years ago is an eternity in corporate lives. Until Phil says otherwise, I'll suspend any belief one way or the other.
