Hi Guys
I just received a NIB Rule Gp2 and I have a bit of problem with what layout to choose. I wanted to lay it out in the same way as my Machine, which has the pin under ring finger and Mb at 45 degrees out, but the Gp2 has a 5 inch pin and I am afraid I will track over the thumb, is that going to happen or am I worrying about the wrong things.

My Pap is 5 1/2 over and 1/2 up

The problem with putting the MB out that far with a 5" pin is that the CG gets swung out pretty far as well. If the starting top is low (~2oz), you can probably do it, but if there's a more respectable amount of top weight, you'll need a sizable weight hole. That may not bother you, I don't know.

My question to you is this: Are the pin CG and MB all inline? and if not if you were to draw a line from the pin to the MB....where is the CG?

The only real problem you would have is getting the ball to weigh out legally for thumb and positive side weight, unless the ball has VERY low topweight. Probably better to start out with a ball with less than a 3"pin(1-2 preferred)if you want that type of drilling. Joe

No the Cg is a little bit to the left of the line, I do not mind a weight hole but could it solve something to drill the holes any deeper?
What sort of size are you talking about as sizeable?

The top weight is 2 and a quarter onz.

It is hard for me to return the ball to get a shorter pin as I live in Iceland and bought it from bowlingindex.com Also I am playing in the national singles tournament in just a week.

Any help or thought on drilling would be really appreciated.

If the cg is left of your line (drawn from pin to mb), that's even better plus you only have 2.25 top, you're fine. You have more flexbility in drilling this ball. What reaction shape do you want? Let us know and we'll get back to you, thanks.

Hi Rick
I am looking to set it up so I can use it if I encounter long and heavy tournament conditions. I wanted to set it up with pin under ring and mb at 45 degrees, cause I think that drilling gives me a good roll in the middle of the lane and also alot of control. But if you have any other suggestions, please feel free to give them to me.

I like this layout on my Phenom, espec the way it reacts in the middle 20ft, not to flippy on the back either, I drill a LOT of symmetrical core stuff this way too.
