Title: Phoenix question
Post by: pate08 on March 14, 2007, 03:32:17 PM
I see that one of the Phoenix's is going for $530 on ebay<-------OMG!, and my question for everyone is, would you rather drill this ball up for yourself or get the $530?

There is no way shape or form could Ebonite produce this ball.  If I am not mistaken, the coverstocks were made by BASF.  Again, if I am not mistaken, Ebonite doesn't have anything to with BASF.  It is not possible to have the same type of ball reaction when using different coverstocks.  Phil has a secret in the soaker coverstock as well that will not be revealed.  That is his own chemistry.

themezz
i don't think ebonite bought this company because their products were no good.
why would someone do this,  unless it was for 10 cents on the dollar.
i think they bought this company because their products are good and well received.

and in time ebonite will market them according to their own guidelines.  and do very well.   just like they did with hammer.

Ebonite does in fact use BASF(Columbia), Bayer(Brunswick), and HK (Storm) resin bases in their products.

They do not have the recipes only the raw material since they blend their own formulas. anyone can buy the A and B sides it's the additives they they do not have, and in many cases they are proprietary and not available.

Sometimes it has NOTHING to do with quality of ball. Sometimes it has to do with marketing. Bose is a fine example of excelent marketing for for crappy equipment.

Seems like a lot sooner than than I would have thought.
Last week he said he went on a field trip the week before with cores and formulas in hand and now he is talking about throwing some samples and they
have logos on them already. That is pretty soon.

That ball is mint man, I watched a guy take it OOB and go 279,278,277 for the first 3 games!  Is that worth 500 to me? NO, but to somebody it is.  O and as an added bonus the guy has 8 more.... jerk
