I thought it was hard to really see what the ball(s) could do.  Maybe the guy was saying stuff about how much oil there was, the line being played, and the comparison of reaction shapes.  If anyone could dub this or tell us something that would really be great!  Nice video though.  Everything was so clean in that house. The bowler also had excellent form.

The bowler in the video is "Kaz Tokue", a JPBA pro.

He says,
------------------------
Both core and coverstok come from entirely new technology.
Note: Japanese words sound like "so horny" mean "both".
So, Kaz said "... both core and coverstock ..."

Phoenix is designed for heavy oil condition.  The combination of Ascent core and Dura Soak Resin coverstock is absolutely the first one in Track balls.  DSR coverstock gives the highest friction in all the Track balls ever produced.  I got largest traction in oil and hook in my test run.  The ball has strong midlane and big, continuous arcing backend motion.  Carrydown did not affect the ball motion in his test run.  The new TCS 4000 finish is quite succesful for this ball.  Phoenix is really versatile for all types of bowlers.
------------------------

For your information, you can see the oil pattern of the lane in the video here.  Actually this is a pattern for this month, but I do not think there was significant change.

I am sorry my English is not perfect.
Hope this post helps.

In addition, Kaz Tokue says all the testers in ABS inc. were excited when they threw their Phoenix.  All of them agreed to launch Phoenix in Japanese market.

I got this one a few weeks ago.  Mine is a 15 lbs 2 oz with 4 inches pin-cg and 1 1/4 oz top weight.  Drilled pin above ring finger, about 5 x 4 1/2, without x-hole.  I am a stroker with average rev rate and ball speed.  I threw on wood and AMF synthetic lane.  Medium-heavy oil for both.

As advertised, Phoenix hooked a lot.  Hook shape was very hard arc.  The backend reaction was quite consistent.  But it seemed to lose much energy once it went over dry boards.  This ball needs oil.  When the oil was sufficient, its pin carry was really great.

Vrt cooker, I live in Tokyo.  We are 550 miles away ...

Xcessive_Evil, currently it's the 5th one down on the list.

WMV video file name is shown when the mouse cursor is placed over light blue letters (ball names in Japanese) next to camera icons.  The file name is made by "date"_"ballname".wmv rule.  So you can recognize the video you are looking for by those popups.

Following is an easier way to get video for the ball you want.
1. Click "home" button on top left.  The button is always available there.
2. Click "Bowling Balls".
3. Click the ball photo you are going to get the video for.
4. Just move the mouse cursor on "curve movie".  DO NOT CLICK.  Menu pops up.
5. Select the 1st one to start movie.  The 2nd one is for movie archive pages.
If the pop-up menu holds only one item, it's for video archives.  The video for the ball is not ready yet.

Please be aware the top two in the list /videophoto_album/ball/2007.html have red "New!" arrow.  The link holds the oil pattern for the test run.  ABS inc. might find out our discussion here, I suppose.

Vrt_cooker, I am not a Yokota Air Base personnel.  I hope you enjoy your life in Japan at MCAS Iwakuni.  Fortunately, you will get the new bowling center in 2008!  I often visit Kurashiki for business.  Then we are only 110 miles away ;-).

Can't say I was impressed with the ball reaction. Yes, I have seen many an ABS video and the Phoenix just looked "eh".

I agree.  It did look pretty good to me, just weird to see the EQ2 cover more boards than the Phoenix. Guess the pin under has much shorter length than pin over than I anticipated.
