I am more of a down and in player that doesn't want to hook the ball across 30 boards. I have found out if you play behind the ball around 8-10 area the ball will hold and set up. My pap is 4 3/4 up 1/4 and speed is around 15.5 to 16.

Anyways, i think the Equation, or maybe even Inertia will fit that typw of shot great! The Equation will give you more overall backend reaction since it's a reactive compared to the partice Inertia, and have a nice hard finish on the backend. So Equation would be nice for down and in.
The Inertia will be better if you need to play a little swing, because then it will get through the head oil, and still have a nice finish since it's particle.
Either ball (Equation or Inertia) will fit your spot that you want very well, in my opinion from reading reviews so much, i sort of understand how both will work. Hope i helped!

What kind of ball do you think is needed? Strong early revs, late reaction or something smooth?

I have an Artillery that is drilled pretty close to this but cg is stacked below the pin so no weight hole was needed. It revs up very hard and has a very strong backend in medium/heavy fresh oil. It is much more angular than the Inertia is and carry is above average with either ball.
I would contact Clint Daley for all Track ball needs he runs specials all the time, he just ebayed an Inertia last night in 15 lb. He has Inertia's for 139 drilled and shipped right now in all weights and specs.

I have found I can play the smooth shot better than the old backender. I used to bowl on lanes with back ends and had balls like the Silver Streak and ACE. It seems balls that arc are more my style and I score better now.

Hey ship,
If it isn't buffed, it can create a very strong backend reaction. Basically a over/under reaction from front to back, not only side to side. What I mean by this is that when the ball comes out of the oil at 40ft, it can jump pretty hard so that would also explain why arcing balls are easier to control vs skid/flip balls.
For this I'd suggest our Inertia which is a smoother on the backend and having it drilled a little weaker as well. We can keep the mass bias in a position so that it doesn't truly enhance the reaction because the condition will do that on it's own. PM me for details on a layout "sir"...

Yes Chuck it could. Main reason I suggested the Inertia is because I'm picturing a decent amount of oil in the middle (and no buff) so the Inertia will read thru that smoother. "If" the oil is a heavier density, the Blast could still have some "pop" to it based on my explanation of a ball's capability of "conserving" or "storing" energy.

I'd say a 3.75 x 5.5-6 mb with the pin about 2 inches above mid line should do the trick. This is fairly close to mine and it offers a very nice smooth reaction from beginning to end. Combine this with our Peak Particle and it should help roll thru the oil a little better and not store "too" much energy so that it is not "too" jumpy once it gets out of the oil. Not sure if you saw my vids on this but here you go...
