Pick my next ball!
« on: September 22, 2005, 06:05:02 AM »
I am going to purchase 6 balls on Monday to replace the ones I have just departed with due to me tracking so high.

Current arsenal:

1. GP2 factory surface, pin just under ring, cg kicked out, mass bias on VAL, extra hole on PAP. Strongest, earliest ball I own.

2. GP2 factory surface, pin under fingers, cg kicked out, mass bias almost on VAL, extra hole on PAP. Just a few baords behind GP2#1 in strength.

3. GP2 factory surface, pin above ring, cg palm, mass bias left of thumb. Replaces my favorite drill GP2 to keep the track off my fingers and thumb.

4. Phenom Unleashed factory surface, same drill as GP2 #3, a few boards longer and gets through the heads when the GP2 wants to act up.

I am ordering the following:
All will be factory surface, pin above ring, cg in palm, mass bias left of thumb (only on asymmetricals)
1. 5.0
2. Original X
3. Delta
4. Desert
5. GP2-going to keep aside and see how the rest of my stuff performs

AND...

Here is where you come in. What do you think? I am leaning towards another Delta drilled like GP2 #2 from above. I am only looking to add another asymmetrical ball. I only have access to Xceptions, 5.0s, GP2s, and Deltas. Give me which one of those balls and why.

Thanks!

I was thinking the same thing....

Adding the 5.0 and original X are going to give me more on tourney conditions, not really for every day use.

Advisory staff does not get any free equipment. We get ours at a significant discount directly from Track. Trust me when I say its still a great advantage to be on staff even with a small cost involved.

Think you are missing out on the Arsenal Reactive....

Would be perfect in that lineup...

IF not...then would go with a Delta...and go exactly the same drill as the 3rd GP2 listed...should give you a long an strong ball that will be stronger than you Xception...

Thanks for the input guys....

Just want to clarify, I am ordering a Desert, 5.0, original X, and a Delta to drill with pin above ring, cg in palm, mass bias left of thumb to add to the 3 GP2s and Unleashed. I was looking for what you guys thought a 5th ball would be to add to something I don't have listed. The balls I have it narrowed down to are the X, 5.0, Delta, and GP2.

Clint I would go with the original x.  I feel with the gp2's and the delta you have a lot of heavy oil stuff.  I would even the playing field a bit with the original x.

Thanks for the input guys. I am really up in the air, especially after throwing some last night. My timing is really coming back after losing it for a few days and the ball is much crisper off my hand. However, my track is still super high, more than normal.

Its amazing....my first 2 weeks of the scratch Classic league, my timing was so-so and I go 680-705 to start the year on a tougher the tougher than normal house shot....only 2 people are above 215 and I am at 230? Must be my year.....maybe. The other guy above 215 is at 235.

Like I said, I really have no clue to why. I have never averaged for a year more than 220 in my short 25 years of existence. I will see what happens tonight! I really liked the reaction of the 5.0 and X, but after thumping them, I have to wait till next week when my new ones come in.

Clint,

My first Delta 1 (which I will be reviewing very soon) is drilled up very strong....it rolls pretty soon and still has alot of backend..........SO I am going to get another to drill it for backend and see what kind of "animal" this ball can be. The layout you mentioned would be pretty nice, how far from PAP is the pin position you are thinking of?

If I drill the 2nd Delta pin under fingers like the one GP2 I have, it is about 4 inches from my PAP with the mass bias near the VAL.

I went from being 1/4 of an inch from my fingers and thumb to rolling solidly over my left finger and thumb hole...probably 1/2 inch up from normal...but I am adjusting to it and have 10 new balls on the way, so we will be ok!
