Title: Pick my next ball!
Post by: clintdaley on December 13, 2005, 06:10:07 AM
Well, I have narrowed it down to 2 choices. I am carrying just 3 GP2s (have more, but don't take them all to tourneys) a Hexplosion, and I will be getting the spare ball if/when it comes out...so I need 1 ball to fill my 6 ball arsenal when I go away:

I need more backend than any of my current 3 GP2s for tourneys......

Robo Rule-

Good- Particle...I love particle based covers....ball is smoother throughout the lane and is more predictable to me.

Bad- Same cover (although lighter load) and the lower rg, combined with the lower grit surface (800) and Ex's review that overall it hooks more than the GP2.

Delta 1

Good- It gives me something I don't have-a reactive in the bag, and more separation between the GP2s and the next ball.

Bad- I really dislike reactives in general....just not my cup of tea. Add to that a big backend that I usually don't see...could be more of the same-reactive in the bag!

I am buying VERY soon...maybe in the next day or so, and your votes will help me decide. Either way, I am probably going to drill it 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 mass bias strong.......

Thanks!

Sounds like you're already sold on the RoboRule. There may be too much gap between the Delta and the G2.

Oh splendid! This calls for a sexy party!

I would stay away from the robo rule because you already have the 3 gp2's.  Hands down the Delta 1 is the one you should choose.  If you want to cut down on the backend just drill it so the backend is less.

I'm with Six, get the Delta. You confuse me some, though, by saying you're looking for more backend than you're getting with the GP2's, but list "more backend" as a negative to this ball. I think if you're looking for a stronger backend, choose the Delta.

so what do you really want....

""I need more backend than any of my current 3 GP2s for tourneys""

YET...under the BAD part for BOTH balls....you state they both would give you EXACTLY that....

Sound like most of the women I've ever dated....geez....

will need to clarify yourself....

Clint!!!!

Screw both of those balls... GET AN ANIMAL!!! That is the ball that will fill that slot better than any other. They should have never discontinued the Animal...

(btw, if I had to choose for me, I'd pick the Delta, but I LIKE reactive... you seem to be leaning toward the Robo.)

ANIMAL!!

When I say the backend is bad...I mean the amount. I do need something with a tisker more, but the BIG backend reaction you see out of reactives, like the Delta or Xception is just usually too much for the shots I see. The cover makes it skate in oil, but once it smells dry, it turns NOW. I need something on the back more than the GP2....but something that is controllable for me.

There's no doubt.  This ball should have never been discontinued.  The Animal is awesome.

Then why not choose the arsenal aggressive?

Pearls and reactives do the same thing for me, skate if they smell oil, turn on the drop of a dime when they smell dry....

The Robo is too close to your GP2's.  The Delta for you has too much backend.  i feel you could drill it to tame the backend.  The aggressive didn't work for you.  You don't like pearls or reactives.  Then I feel we need to look at the particle's.

The only particle balls that Track has under the gp2 are:
Blue Heat
Robo Rule
xception 5.0(pearl particle)
arsenal aggressive(you didn't like)
arsenal angular(pearl particle)

That's it from what I see.  It looks like the Blue heat is your only choice.  If you can pick up an ANIMAL you would be set.  I don't know where to find them anymore.  Too bad because the Animal was a top notch ball in my opinion.

Maybe Brook....

I am considering if I get the Robo, taking some 1500 to it to raise the surface grit, and that would help provide some separation....it would sort of be like my Phenom and Phenom Unleashed. Basically the same cover (slight difference of medium load (Phenom) and a light load (Unleashed)-just like the GP2 abd Robo)

I agree with ChiTown.....the Arsenal Aggressive is a wonderful ball. I have one...make sure that you dont put a shine on this ball, it wont react the way it was made for. Keep it dull...1000 grit....IBF. This ball acts like a resin, but reads the lanes like a particle. Very smooth, its hard!

The peak particle covers are awesome.  Clint had three of these and said that there were not what he was looking for.

Well...I couldn't decide, so I ordered one of each!

And I am looking for an Animal or something else as well.
