Rule Vs. Animal
« on: March 13, 2005, 02:43:56 AM »
I would like to know the difference between these 2 balls. Also which one might be closer to the Track Mutant. I want to get a good ball for med-heavy oil that arcs good. Please let me know which one or if there are any others. Thanks

The Animal is likely closer to the Mutant. The Rule uses Track's new GOO coverstock which is a new heavy oil reactive.

Rule, being a resin, will naturally get more length and give a more angular but strong arc.  It saves a lot of energy and provides a huge backend reaction.  The Animal on the other hand, will rev up quite a few feet earlier and give more of a smooth arc reaction.  It doesn't cover as many boards and it won't give you a huge backend reaction, but it'll handle heavy-oil like a champ.  The Animal's core is very strong and it revs up really hard in heavy oil whereas the Rule doesn't pick up on its roll as well.  The Animal is definitely a true heavy oil ball.  The Rule would be more for medium/heavy to medium.  Both balls are excellent though!

Mike,

The difference between the Rule and Animal is like night and day. The Animal revs up much earlier and handles oil much much better than the Rule. I feel the Rule is closer to the Mutant out of the two. The Mutant cleared the heads very easy for me---I had 4 of them total, all with different layouts and they all got decent length.

I would go with the Rule. If you had a Mutant and liked it try the same drilling on the Rule and you should be happy. The Animal just does not have the backend that the Rule and Mutant have. The Animal is an oil ball all the way.

I agree with Ex, as if you want backend, then the Rule is the better choice between the 2! I have a few of both, and the Rule that rolls the soonest still has more backend than any of my Animals.

Mike,

It looks like you would have everything covered. You could drill an Animal if you feel that having to heavy oil balls would not be overkill. I will add to that: It is not a bad thing to have two bowling balls in one slot because sometimes one will match up better or carry better than the other.
