Poll for Track users:
« on: May 18, 2005, 05:46:59 AM »
I have posted on here several times that by next year, I will have drilled at least 6 GP2s for myself and have given the different drills and cover changes, etc. I feel the versatility of the cover is among, if not the best among strong particle covers that are currently on the market and the characteristics of the ball in general suit my game perfectly.  I feel I can cover everything but the driest of dry, which is when I would pull out a plastic ball. Here is my question. If you could drill up a whole arsenal of balls for yourself, but you could only choose 1 ball to do this with, which ball from the current Track line would it be and why? This could be an arsenal of just 2, 4, 6 or however many balls you like to carry or would like to carry. While more than likely none of you would do this, I would like to see your feelings.

I look forward to reading all of your responses!

But of which ball? Remember, you can only pick 1 ball.

Clint,

For me, I'd use a Slash...I'd use a symmetrical core to do this, and since the Arsenal Core isn't available in a strong resin - (The FAZ is close) - the Slash
would be my choice.  It's versatility for me is like you with the GP2.

I'd do one at like 400 - 600 pin down for Floods
Box for meds - med heavy
one with pin high at 2000 or so for light oil

I couldn't use the same drill with just coverstock changes...doesn't work for me...

So far,

1 for GP2
1 for Arsenal Aggressive
1 for Slash

I would have to say the Rule. With different layouts and cover preps, I'm sure I could cover anything but the sahara with 4 of them.

I'd have to say the Rule too, but I would have liked to have tried that with the Sheer Havoc before it was "retired".

I would go with the rule, i don't own one but i think a slash would work very well too.

I don't have one, but based upon my research, what I've heard, what I've read, ball specs, and my own experience with 4 Track balls ... SLASH with different layouts and coverstock finishes. My 2 cents ... oh, by the way, I LOVE my animal, Animal Untamed and FreakAZoid !!!

Hmmm...another good question Clint.  Can't choose just one, Del and co. have done so well in making sure their covers are versatile....I can go with either the GP2 or the Animal.  I had multiples of both with different covers and they both reacted accordingly with great hitting power as well.  I currently have 2 GP2s (1 dull, 1 polished) and there is at least a 12-14 board separation between the two.  Pretty amazing actually....

Agressive.  The cover is extremely versatile and can cover quite a few different patterns and this is with the same ball.

i will vote the aggressive as well.....NO i Did NOT vote already......

but i did forget to list my reason: The ball is symetric, making it very controllable and with the control BUT a powerful, yet adjustable cover this ball is a KEY part of any arsenal.

I'm gonna stand out like a sore thumb and say the Xception!  While it may not be able to handle a flood (even though I do somewhat decent with dull pearl balls, especially since they still tend to backend rather decent for me), it could handle EVERYTHING else, probably including the sahara.

Heavy - Pin 3 3/8" from PAP, MB about 1 1/2" off midline, cover dulled to 500 grit Abralon
Medium (roll) - Pin under bridge, MB at 55 degrees, cover to 1000 grit abralon
Medium (flip) - Pin above ring, MB 1" off midline, cover dulled to 800 grit abralon base, then polished for 2 minutes
Light - Pin above bridge, MB at 75 degrees, cover to 4000 grit abralon base, then polished for 8 minutes.

Works for me!

My vote goes to the Aggressive.  I just love the way the ball rolls, control and hitting power out I get out of mine.  Simply amazing ball.
