50+ games on a paradox yet.  Hype and early reviews on this ball really have me interested, but then I think back to half a dozen super solids from all manufacturers over the past 15 years that were phenomenal out of the box, but degraded rapidly.  I am not looking for a ball that will open any pattern up, but rather something that will hit when I play the pattern for what it will give me.

I do, surprisingly good piece for me as I don't normally drill equipment this strong
its a beast, dont get me wrong, but it opens up the lanes quite well on THS patterns
and when 2000 or even 1000 on the high volume sport patterns, it has decent motion, not to flippy what-so-ever off the pattern
I figured I would test it a few times and then dismiss it as it would be just way to strong for me
not the case at all, its always in my bag
I went away from track after the 505t and 715t balls, tried 508a, 607se, etc and just lost interest
the Paradox is refreshingly good for the Track line-up IMO

I was thinking in terms of solid when I made my post.  Being a hybrid makes me a little more interested.  Best way to describe what I want, is a Virtual Gravity, not a Cell or Theory that would hit from anywhere for a few games but died quickly on me.  Also the old Infinite One comes to mind as a ball that died quickly after carrying everything out of the box.  VG was actually more useful to me after it lane polished because it didn't lose its hit.

It seems like common knowledge that the stronger the cover, the more maintenance required along with the greater chance of reduced performance.  Low performance can't get too much lower while any change will not seem significant.  Yet, high performance covers having any reduction in performance will appear significant.

And many need to eliminate the reliance of certain out-dated terminology.  Referring to reactions based on cover type is no longer an accurate method.  Regardless of the cover type, a bowler should look at where the ball is intended to fit in the manufacturers arsenal to determine if it is what they want.  There are "solids" that are skid/flip and there are pearls that are early/smooth.

I agree on the shell maintenance, but the issue on solid is that you get a combination of degradation and oil absorption.  I understand that, but some solids just don't have a good core shell matchup for me once the inevitable taming takes effect.   Some balls have good continuation after they stand up, others don't.  Old Brunswick stuff prior to 2006 had great continuation despite early roll.  Storm and Columbia not so much in that era. 

Not looking for a hook monster from Paradox, but rather a strong rolly look with continuation.

Depending on layout and surface, you can get exactly that
I have not seen any performance loss at all.
I have been using it on mostly high volume patterns and using clean n dull and surface touch ups. I might bake it if I see the need to
I went with a 5" pin to tame it a bit, but surface seemed to tame it the most
I have not had it above 2000 so far
I may do a fresh 2000 + polish for a THS next week

I don't see how a "solid" degrades any differently than a "pearl" or "hybrid". 

Looking at R2S from Storm, each variation (solid, hybrid and pearl) are from the same base material.  So how does one degrade differently than the other?

Solid doesn't degrade differently than a pearl if the shell prep is similar.  However many solids have a dull much lower grit surface prep.  As a result they absorb oil quicker, and polish to the lane.  Combating these changes is more problematic on a solid than a pearl or polished hybrid that is less dependent on an aggressive shell prep to gain the desired performance. 

Maybe degrade is the wrong term.  Shell doesn't degrade any differently, but reaction transitions more noticeably on dull solids.  If you are buying a ball for the box condition reaction, it wont last long on the lower grit solids.
