Question about short pin
« on: December 07, 2005, 09:30:47 PM »
I'm going to experiment with going from 14# to 15#.  My favorite ball of all time is my TKO Contender (vintage, I know, but still a killer)...it is by far my most reliable piece.  Well, I was recently able to find a NIB 15#...the only problem is that it has like a 1/2" pin.  My 14# has about a 2 1/2" pin.  My question is this...can the 15# be drilled to react exactly the same(or at least EXTREMELY similar) to the 14#?  All I know about pin lengths is that shorter pins roll sooner.  I'm a medium rev tweener, 15-16 mph, PAP 4 3/8, 1/2" up, 16 degree tilt.  I know very little about ball layouts so here is the 14#...

I know it looks polished in the picture.  It's actually at 600 grit.  It was in desperate need of a cleaning when that pic was taken.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Wendi

Can you get it close...yes...will it be exact, never. Even 2 balls drilled at the same time will be different. A different top will slightly effect that ball, a small difference on the layout can effect the ball, etc. There are so many variables that can effect the ball, its amazing!
