Tenpinspro.......Second To No One
« on: May 30, 2006, 04:39:47 PM »
My wife and myself just finished a 3 week vacation this past week-end. The first part of our vacation took us to my Son's home at Tracy California which is about 50 minutes from tenpinspro. Due to that, I was able to meet and spend 3 hrs. with Rick. What a guy!!!!!

While there, Rick re-did my entire grip, span, and pitches entirely for me. All new feel and set up. He plugged one of his balls (looks brand new and you can't tell it was plugged), drilled it with the new grip for me including grips and thumb insert and gave it to me "FREE" of charge. He also gave me a bowling shirt with his logo on it, ball cleaner, tape insert tool and other miscellaneous items plus a lot of helpful tips and advice. I sincerely wish I had been able to spend another day there and have him work with me on the lanes, but time didn't permit. He refused to accept a single cent for anything.

He is a great guy complete with a terrific personality and is the type of person that you can't help but like. I felt I had known him for years from the very first moment I saw him. There is no way a person could dislike him no matter how hard he tried. They may tease him all of the time about his size, but I will say this and that is, this guy has a bigger heart than anyone I know. He is second to no one. He is # 1 hands down.

Since returning from vacation, I have been able to throw the ball he drilled up for me (Track Heat) a total of 9 games in two different houses and have averaged 209 with it......What a difference a properly fitted ball can make. I started struggling 3 years ago and gradually dropped from averaging 195-200 down to 171 this past season. Words cannot describe how well fitted the ball Rick drilled for me fits, so I will quit here. Had I ever had the slightest idea he could give me a drilling that was so easy to throw, I would have bought a round trip plane ticket and flew to his place long ago as it would have been worth every cent of what it would have cost me to do that.

Rick, once again, many thanks to you.

A while back you praised Anne Marie Duggan as a great ball driller if I am not mistaken.
What happened?

I praised her accuracy of not even being off even 1/64th" when she drilled the holes as well as perfect accuracy of getting the pitches right when drilling a ball and I still stand by that. She is one of the best at that and as soon as I take Rick's design to her to have her drill it on another ball, I assure you that she will still exhibit that same accuracy and it will fit EXACTLY like Rick's design does, believe me.

In this case here of what Rick did for me, I'm talking about the proper span and pitch design to fit my hand. Rick did that and gave me the best and most comfortable fit and ease of releasing the ball that I can ever recall having. The design he did and drilled it to is so much easier to throw now plus my scores back that up. (FYI, since making my initial post, I have bowled 6 more games in two different houses and am still averaging in the 200's) In addition to the new design for my hand, he also drilled the ball acurately to the designed specs like Anne Marie has always done for me.

Sup fellas.

I agree with what all of you say about Rick. He's definitely
a nice guy. You can beat it. Rick is like a bowling library.
He knows a ton. He's taught me a great deal also. I am thankful
to have a friend like him. I have to say he has one of the best customer
service around. I would recommend anyone to him. He's help my friends and i
measure out our PAPS and etc.... Super Duper guy! AHAH!

Ok, I see that there's quite a bit of the ego stroking going around, but I echo what everyone else is saying.  Rick re-did all of my balls last summer and also changed my game quite a bit.  I have reaped the rewards and my average went up almost 20 pins!  Props to you, old man!

PS...Rick, how come I never got a shirt?

Maybe because you didn't have to drive 1620 miles like I did?????....
(I really did drive that far. 1580 miles to my Son's house and another 40 to Rick's shop)

kgee, after seeing what Rick did for my game, I honestly believe you when you say your average went up 20 Pins.

Brickguy,

You're probably right!  I only drive about 20-25 miles to get to his place!

20 pins is no lie.  Rick fixed all of my spans and re-drilled all of my balls so each has around 3-4 boards separation. It sure helps to have an arsenal like that.

Gentlemen, THANK YOU very much for the kind words.  A couple years ago I found this site and I met "Excaliber" aka Carl Hurd (Track enthusiast and he was pre staff then), I saw the help he was giving everyone and I thought it would be a great avenue to also help and share info with others.

I'm not here to promote, sell or profit for my own shop or try and make money off anyone, never have, never will (I personally think that's cheesy).  As a staff member, we're supposed to be out representing our companies. If you're out here trying to make money off people, then you're just being a salesman, selfish or doing it for personal gain and not really trying to help others. As a matter of fact, I still have some outstanding debt out here trying just trying to help people.

I always told Del when he signed me 4 years ago that our jobs as "Staff" should be to help others, maybe it's just my mindset and work ethic.  I have been very blessed in meeting some of you and talking with many of you which I can now proudly call friends.  Remember, this is recreation to most of you but it's work for me and I get burnout from work like we all do. However, you guys have been instrumental in lighting that flame inside me that reminds me of how much I love this sport and enjoy helping others.  So, thank you guys too and I'm glad I was able to be of some help to you in some way.

PS. I was going to charge Brickguy but he handed me a dollar and expected change so I said "fugitaboutit"....LOL  Have a great weekend guys!
