When bowling in places where the shot is drier, and I have to throw it hard, I have a tendency to Grab the ball at release, causing it to hook early. I was wondering if i should try either more reverse in my fingers, or try a ball drilled sarge easter??

Let me know what you all think. I have about 9 balls on the way, so i'd gladly sacrifice a ball in the current lineup to try it out!

Unless you have ring finger pain, or an insanely high rev rate i don't think you need a sarge, learning how to back your hand out of the ball with more forward roll is one of the most important things a bowler can learn

not the nrom for most

but i drop down in weight

usually since they are hooking you dont need the added weight anyways(fro carry)

well, i throw 15 now, and my rev rate is up there. I was to the point yesterday where my desert heat was to much ball, while the fluffers on the pair could hardly hook there inferno's

Hey, I got a question. Why do you call guys fluffers? Is that a bowling snob term? To me that statement creates an unhealthy relationship between guys like you who are without a doubt better than most and other bowlers. The lower end bowlers see how guys that are in the top echelon act and treat them most of the time and this is one of the aspects of the game that is hurting it. Wouldn't it be just as easy to say "people with less hand could hardly hook their Infernos." I'm not trying to flame this post but this is something that has bothered me a lot in recent years. Earl Anthony, Dick Weber, Dick Ritger and many others could eat most of the heavy handed guys for lunch on most conditions and they did not have over powering releases.

All my balls have reverse. may help a little maybe try to drop down a pound for the dry lane ball.

Revo what are your current pitches? and B did you ever try the method of putting you thumb in first and then your fingers I usually do this when they are eally hooking so I don`t grab because I have the same tendency.

Fluffer is used in the same context as stroker or tweener. It just describes a style of bowling, the people with very little hand. If you take that as a derogatory term, it's your own fault. People don't complain because someone says "that cranker was really opening up the lane when I couldn't hook my ball"....That's just as "derogatory".

I wouldn't look to a grip change but a physical change. I had the same issues and no changes worked as well as some swing changes. The most important being "flattening" the plane of my swing. That is, creating a longer flat spot at the bottom apex of the swing so that the ball is being released parallel to the ground, almost like a plane landing. The ball has more push and greater read. You also have the added benefit of being able to throw much more agressive balls.

I had problems on drier lanes because I was being forced to used much weaker equipment and had greater lane transitions. Fred Borden helped me with my swing by me getting the ball into the swing early and having a hinge pushaway. Hard to describe in words but the first shot off my hand was an eye opener. It took a while to get it down and even now when I get to lanes where I'm getting early or too much hook, I'll exagerate my swing as a first adjustment. It's allowed me to be able to use much stronger balls even when they hooked.

Your grabbing because your trying to put a lot of speed on the ball. I would suggest not messing with your grip specs. I would just learn to use a different release. A low rev more skid type of release.

Fluffer is just used to desrcibe a low rev player. Revo is not trying to slam anybody. In fact I know a lot of strokers that use that term as well.
