Question for you Trackaholics...
« on: April 04, 2006, 03:25:59 AM »
I'm planning on taking my old Track arsenal and getting the balls back as close to OOB surface as possible in order to sell them to some lucky sucker, umm, I mean, bowler...hopefully, if there is a market for them.

Can anyone, especially one of the GURUS, help me out with this?  The balls I'm looking to take back to OOB condition are the Animal, Animal Untamed, and Crash.  If you can, please provide info on final grit and compound or polish used to get it to OOB. (ie...sanded to 400 grit then polished with Magic Shine)

TIA!!!

VT_ Turkey; Go to the Track website and check out the archive section under GEAR.You should find all of the oob finishes listed there.

I don't see where it says what grit sandpaper/pad to use for those three balls, though.

Yeh, I know where to find what the "end" product should be, I'm trying to find out the grit prior to applying the "end" product.

Anyone else?

the crash was shined to high hell and back... i'd use 2000 sandpaper or aberlon, clean'n sheen, then magic shine. as i recall the untaimed was duller. you're probably safe using 600 then 800 with no compound or shine. And i have no clue on the animal, there were never many around town, none in shops here, and I never had one. Hope it helps.

To get the crash back to almost complet box take it to about 1500-1000 then hit it with magic shine. The animal i think you need to take it to 400-600 and then hit it light with clean n sheen. The untamed i think came about 900 or so. I may be wrong. So take a grey pad and hit it light not hard light with it as to get it to 900 rather then the 800 the pad is.
