Questions about oil.

Hey everyone I have a question. I bowl at a number of houses and all the shots are good, competitive and fair. Now theres is this one house that doesnt do anything to there lanes. They just put oil on top of oil never clean the pin decks or backends and I cant get anything to move. I just drilled up a Robo Rule and man it doesnt move. I've been told to slow down my ball speed and I have but I cant get the ball to move. My specs on my profile. this house is making me miserable any suggestions?

I came across a condition at my league about a month or so ago.  The lane machine broke down and the manager of the house oiled the lanes with a mop!  Well he oiled then really heavy.  Nothing would hook more than 3 boards.  My point is this: it doesn't matter what ball you use because if the lanes are oiled that much then nothing is going to hook except this:  Take a used old particle ball that you don't really care too muc about and dull it to 80 grit.  I did this with a plugged many times phenom unleashed.  Well my unleashed dulled to 80 grit will hook on almost anything.  If I throw it on a normal heavy oil shot it actually slows way down and turns.  This thing just burns up on heavy oil.  So if used on a condition like the mop condition I bowled on it should work great!

If it is really the oil, then the only things you can do is:
a) make equipment changes (like chitown suggested)
b) do the best with the situation and play straight to the pocket.

I had a similar situation last weekend in league: long (45') oil, gutter to gutter. My Eliminator which is my normal weapon of choice on greasy lanes did hardly move, I tried a Blade Particle (800 grit and drilled leverage) I had luckily with me and it merely worked - but also did not hook very much. I scored low tghis day, mostly because I was so upset with my release that I did not change my line more to the right... my fault.

Well the house you are talking about sounds like a house where I live. That type of shot is what they give there saturday jr league. There are a few things you can do most have already been told. One i didn't see is to not try to hook the ball off you hand because if the ball is spinning off you hand it will end up being like a spinning tire on a car when you hit a big long puddle on one side of the car you hydroplane. Your ball will could end up just skidding more. The thing you could do to try to stop this is let the ball roll itself. In other words try to get the ball to full roll. I know that When you come across that much oil it just don't matter how much more you try to hook the ball even if you slow your speed down. Even 80 grit balls can super skid. Try a full roll because if you are really having that much trouble on these lanes you might just want to be able to fullroll it to see what it could do. If you do try it i would say try it with the 80 grit ball. I have tried this on a complete flood of oil mopped to about 50 feet. It worked for me but i played right up 15. I hope this works.

axe,

Nothing will work on oil. A ball has to find a degree of friction in order to move. Carrydown is rough.....it is very difficult to play through.....normally the best thing is to go around it either left or right.

Definately embrace the shot, because it is tough and if you score on that you will be able to score on almost anything. A shot like this will help you increase your accuracy, because if you are off target you will pay for it.

Watch the bowlers that are scoring...where are they playing on the lane?

Ex is right, you will have to find a way to make your ball get to the pocket, whether its slowing your speed down, finding a way to put more revs on the ball, or just playing more direct in general, something will eventually work....keep at it and you will see.

By the way, the Robo is a great choice...so keep trying it!

The Name of the house is AMF Rocklin lanes. Honestly I even asked the head lane mechanic if they strip and he said yeah we do every day. I asked him what the process was he said they use a dust mop!!!??? WTF wouldnt that spread oil to the pin decks etc? im not sure guys but im going to try to play inside more often get the ball to slow hook its just rough. Thought maybe there would be a way to increase my chances. O.B. is arond 5 bored anything right of it wont come back at all. I'll keep taking a stab at it. Thanks guys.

Sorry guys for the late delays. Wells as far as the machine they use its an old Silver Magnum bullet? Thought it read something like that. I know its a great thing to practice on a hard surface with alot of oil but im used to atleast having alittle backend. What I was wondering is how I can create a shot? im not very great on playing deep inside just yet practicing but hard. Any suggestions?

No doubt bowling on these tough condition have made me improve my game immensely. Just want to become better on these tough shots so I was looking for suggestions. I realize slowing down my ball speed is vital. Was seeing what kind of angle I should play.
