Title: Quick Phoenix question...
Post by: FastTracker33 on January 28, 2007, 02:00:28 AM
Hey all! Well, i've been reading quite a bit on the Phoenix now, and had a question on it.. Would this ball be able to replace my Power Machine as a Med/Heavy Oil ball? I would really like a sym. ball for the med/heavier oil. Thanks! BTW, im not sure if this question is able to be answered just yet, but its worth a shot asking!

Yes, im sure it can replace the Power Machine, but what i meant by replacing it was just me getting the Power Machine out of my arsenal, and let the Phoenix be my Med/Heavy Oil ball .. the Phoenix can probably do that, but i wanted to hear some opinions
Thanks for your opinion by the way

Sated in the other thread that yes this ball is a Heavy Oil ball but Carl stats the surface can be adjusted and used on other conditions. The reaction shape is Strong Midlane so not sure if it would replace a Power Machine but I am sure Carl and a few others here could answer that for you.

It's two totally different balls. Two different coverstocks, cores, rgs, diffs, etc.

The Phoenix being symmetrical will not have the big "flip" that the power machine has. Being symmetrical it will be smooth and transition through the heavier type of oils.

I personally like assymmetrical balls for heavy just because I can get a turn and some more power with the ball.

The Phoenix with the proper surface prep could fill a med/heavy shot very well in my opinion. OOB it is pretty strong....I could only imagine what it would do with 2000 abralon on that surface...or even 1000.

FastTracker, just make sure that for your med/heavy ball you don't have the pin placed above the bridge

It's supposed to be similar to an Absolute Inferno.

I definately do not see the Phoenix being close to the Absolute Inferno. The Phoenix has the same midlane of the Absolute.....but it is so much more continuous through the pin deck than the Absolute. Another reason I do not see the comparison being valid is because the Phoenix finishes the job far better than the absolute....it crushes the pins.
