Real Coverstock Death

Well, I opened my bag up today, and my Crash's coverstock completly cracked. I figured it would eventually happen. A) Pin to finger is less than 1 inch, and b) fingers started cracking 6 months after I started throwing it because my track sometimes clipped the middle finger hole.

I suppose its a good excuse now to buy a new ball.

Sounds like you track high. Keep the pin above the fingers to prevent this problem.

I still throw a tko, sensor xcel, pearlized elite, triton heat, contender, and blue urethane enforcer from time to time, and I am getting ready to buy a KO Punch, whats wrong with using the classics.  If my Crash wasn't a heavy 15lb I probably would keep it in my bag.

I actually still have my 16lb tko. My 15lb crash was a close replacement when I moved down in weight.

I really liked the ball, but It overlaps my fired up, so I really don't miss it too bad. It was a great compliment to my freak.

It happens.....and it is disappointing. I don't know what causes cracking in a ball that just sits there. Any ideas anyone?

Well, I dont know what the conditions are at where you are, but here in AZ, I believe that it is too dry so the resin in the balls dries out causing the cracking.  I am starting to store any unused balls in plastic bags to help keep that from happening.  

Every ball that I have had that cracked, had not been used in awhile (no exposure to lane oil) and were out in the open or sitting in a box. Plastics, rubber and vinyl dont do too well here.  Nor does human skin.

I had a matrix trimax 3 that cracked after it sat for about a year. Same thing here, i just haven't thrown the crash in about 3 months.
