I am having a problem with tracking over the thumb on my equipment. Last year, I switched to Track equipment. I have an Arsenal Reactive, Xception, and Desert Heat.
This does not happen all of the time. It usually tracks over the thumb for the first so many feet and then it flares off of the thumb hole. Occasionally, it will track over the thumb further down the lane if I release it improperly.
My current specs are below.
PAP - 5 3/8 over 5/8 up
Ball speed - 16 mph
Axis tilt - 10 degrees
Previously, I used Ebonite equipment and never experienced this problem. My ball track was usually 1-2 inches below the thumb hole. During the summer I attended a clinic and changed my release a little. This changed my PAP (my old PAP was 4 1/2 over and 3/8 up). I am coming a little more off the side of the ball now. I thought this would lower my ball track more, if anything? For some reason I have a higher ball track than ever.
Has anyone else found that Track equipment tracks a little higher than other equipment? At this point, I really do not know what to try. I could go back to my old release and see if that affects it. In terms of reaction, which PAP is better? Is one better or is it one of those things that is what it is?
I really like the ball reaction I get when the ball isn't thumping over the thumb. I would like to keep and use my Track equipment. If anyone has any ideas about what might help my situation, please let me know.
I can post my approximate layouts for these balls, if that would help. All balls are drilled with the pin above the fingers.
Thanks
