Replacing a Crunch Time
« on: June 19, 2006, 01:51:36 AM »
My Fiance's Crunch Time has seen better days, and I going to replace it.  I want something very similar to it.  I was thinking Heat Blast, but will take some suggestions.  Also, not sure how I want to lay it out.  She has decent speed for a woman, I'd say 12-13 MPH, and is a low tracker.  The ball will have a 2-3" pin, and 2-3 TW.  Any suggestions as to what ball and layout would be helpful.  Thank you.

Hey BigB,

Sorry for any confusion here, Charlest and I were just having some fun bouncing around ideas.  We have much respect for each other's knowledge in the game and equipment (right Charlest?...).

You may have to add a touch of polish to the Blast as it still is a stronger piece overall compared to the CT.

But a slightly stronger drilling, say a 3" pin - PAP, plus, potentially a slightly added bit of height of the pin above th emidlane, could solve that differential.

Interesting concept....

makes me choose a ball with the same coverstock with the same solid/pearl combo, with the EXACT same core construction

Not sure if the core is completely identical.  The rg and diff are different so it's possible that the core was tweaked if the filler and shell composition remained the same.  I'd say it's easier to tweak the core by changing density properties in production vs changing the filler and shell weight to alter rg's and diffs.

Main reason we see lighter weight balls change in rg because the filler and shell composite weight remain the same.

Indeed, Rick.

Hope we didn't confuse you any, BigB20. We're talking a matter of inches in a discussion where, if the result gets the bowler within feet of the desired target, that's a good thing. (I don't mean a target on the lanes.)

No problem, I like seeing the sharing of ideas going back and forth.  Really good to see two bowling minds at work.
