REV-O-LUTIONS
« on: August 26, 2005, 07:04:57 AM »
I usually don't post very much but all this Rev bashing is really pi**ing me off!!! I do not personally know Carl but what I do know is this. His ball reviews and posts (Achappy, Ex and a few others, you know who you are) have been very helpful to me and I enjoy reading them. That said, to everyone who reads this post, Rev is not the one at fault for easy scoring conditions, high performance bowling balls, high gas prices, or whatever the he** else everyone wants to blame him for. The sport of bowling has a lot of issues that need to be addressed and USBC knows this. But there are no simple solutions and they are not going to be cleared up overnight. This is our game and we all enjoy it and a lot of changes need to be made. We need to help the right people make these changes and support them in doing so ... and everyone needs to get off Rev's back. Rev, congrats on the high average and I'm waiting for your review on the Rule Delta 1 and Arsenal Reactive...

FYI, I believe that Rev_O just happens to be the one in the crosshairs at the present time, but, they're anger does not lie with him.  It's directed at the USBC and the proprietors that choose to put out a "wall" shot.  You can't blame Steve for putting up these scores and you certainly shouldn't chastise him.

230 is right.  Nobody dislikes revo himself.  The bashes are towards the scores and the wall shots of today.  It's just an example.

I really dont see anyone else  down themselves with their 220+ averages on the THS even when they themselves dont deserve them. And...might I ask why everybody hear bashing Rev O isn't averaging 250 even on the THS?

Because not everyone bowls on a mega wall...There isn't one magic THS.

Might as well throw my two cents in. I know the people who run a cake shot house and was told by them that the reason they put a cake shot out is to attract more business. If people bowl well, they will come back.

Now as for Rev-O, I admire him greatly. I don't know many talented bowlers as him. In my own experience with walled or cake shots you have to have an ability hitting that shot. I do not. But averaging that high in that house, if it were THAT easy all the averages would be THAT high and they aren't. You have to have great talent to do this. WHAT part of that don't they understand? It's like saying no, which part don't you understand the n or the o?

Rev-o, you are indeed a very telented individual.... Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Thanks for listening...

My favorite saying: To each his own. Let everyone else think what they want but I'm willing to put my money on the line saying that in a one-on-one match between Rev O and the majority of the bashers here on this site, Rev will prevail even in some tougher shots. That's my opinion.

Ugh, you guys just don't get it.  Nobody is saying he sucks, it's that his average is not a true representation of his skills.  Because otherwise, that means he's better than anyone else.  If you think that it was all him who got the 249, you're insane.  Unless you'd put money on him against WRW, barnes and all the others on something like the US open pattern.  THAT is the point.  Now with that said, Steve, I expect you to average over 200 at your next regional at least.  Didn't you average around 215 for the latter half of the games or something like that?

Steve doesn't waltz around, asking for his loyal subjects to kiss his feet, and tend to his every need.  That being said, he's merely a victim of the system, and not a guy that people dislike.  I, for one, would love for a lot of the bolwers/posters on the site to at least give his type of shot a chance before using him as the scapegoat.  Kinda like the "walk a mile in my shoes" theory.  Jeepers, if this is the way that certain types of success are greeted on the site, what's the use of keeping score and sharing with others?

I think the main problem people had was that he would always post his scores and stuff like that, but never made mention that it could possibly be the oil pattern or something else helping him achieve that, making it seem like he himself was 100% responsible for the scores.  Most people who didn't shoot their first honor score usually made the remark "it was a wall" or "I got some breaks".  Oh yeah and nobody else here has made a post called "----- the Great".

D Pat, tough question.  really no answer.  I could speculate and say they would average over 250 or over 230.  It wouldn't matter.  But you could bet they would average a lot higher than they do on their PBA patterns.

I guess this mirrors the baseball argument for "hitters ballparks" or "pitcher friendly" venues.

I think I mentioned it before, but just in case I didn't.  This whole situation wouldn't exist if we had something to compare this to.  Revo only bowled one regional during the infamous season, and for whatever reason didn't do amazing.  I can guarantee you that once he does finally prove himself on a tougher pattern, there will be nothing but praise since it will be finally confirmed that he is a good bowler.  The only people who will complain then would just be jealous.  Heck, even Hose admitted he had hoped revo would have done better at that regional.
