« on: May 01, 2005, 03:45:53 AM »
What is a good combo of revs/tilt for balls such as the GP2 and Xception? I own bouth and have been told i am in the 300 to 330 range not sure if that is good or not. Anyone who can help me out with this would really really appreicate it alot.

Rev rate can only define what type of bowler you are. I would not suggest using the rev rate for anything other than lane play or to see if you're a stroker, tweener, or cranker. Also, what you do is different from everyone else.

I am only intresting in revrates so much cause I have been way misinformed about what acctully causes the ball to turn. I was told that it was cause i did not have enough revs on my ball for the oil. Well i understand the game more and more now and know its not that. Its that i must hit the mark and release the same every single time. I am working my behind off on trying to do this and hope for better things in the feature.

Iceman,

Your revs are fine bud, when you get in the oil it is misunderstood by many what needs to be done to get the ball to hook. Some say that revs and more axis rotation....this is incorrect. Most people are going to need to play straight up the lane, slow the ball speed a bit and use a more end over end release.

Hey Iceman,

When I was on C.A.T.S. with Brian Pursel a few weeks ago, he explained to me that rev rate numbers will vary dependent upon the condition you're on.  A shorter oil conditioning will produce a higher rev rate and a longer pattern will give you the appearance of having lower rev rates.  The actual number is not the the key here.

The important thing to understand is your revs to speed ratio that allows one to have a small or large amount of overall hook.  Once understanding how much an individual bowler can hook, it is our job (as drillers) to match the right piece to that player on a given condition.

This concept has been there since day 1, whether a bowler needed pos or neg static, polished or sanded even on hard rubber to help him/her create the proper amount of skid, hook and roll in 60 feet.

Totally understood now. Like i have told u all the shoot i am on durring my monday night league is messing me up. TOnight i am going to try and get good video of it to just see what the balls are doing. I am going early to talk to the oiler and see if i can get a better idea of what exzactly is out there. I am starting to gain back some of my confidence from all your help. After last week i have really lost it alot. I see the importance of hitting marks more and more and more. I just keep struggleing with it but, but hey this will be my second year of bowling in a league what can i expect. Hopefully i will find a comfortable line tonight and something will work if not i will just work harder and harder to find something that will. By the way anyone know of any house in the JErsey Staten ISland area that has C.A.T.S i would really like my game to be looked at indepth.
Thanks once agian for all ure help.
