Ok, I have a question regarding my freak. I haven't thrown it in some time because honestly, it is a strong ball and it's hard to find enough oil to throw it on. I practiced yesterday with it, and I noticed a few things, and maybe you guys could explain why.

It was a medium heavy shot. Good bit of oil in the middle of the lane, fresh backends. I was throwing 15 to about 8 with it. I forget how rolly this ball can get. The intresting thing, the ball seemed to look better if I kept it in oil. If I got the ball to say 5 board, it never come back. If I took my crash, and threw the same shot, I could get the ball to come back to the pocket.

Is there a point where particle technology really defeates the purpose of the THS and the outside dry area bumper?

Agreed...particles need oil to work propoerly..without oil, they hook instantly and have nothing left for the backend, thus you need something that does not react as quick to the dry (Crash) and there you go...a ball that moves more because of the way you are playing....

That is what I figured. I had better luck with the Freak when I played 17 to 10 with it, kept it in the oil. I have found this to be a good ball on sport conditions when I get to practice on them.

Hey DJ,

It is exactly what the guys are saying, roll out, burn out either one.  This stems back to my constant explanantion of creating "proportionate" amounts of skid, hook and roll in 60 feet to create the necessary reaction to knock down all 10 pins.

Due to the fact that I was able to avg 210+ 20 yrs ago with plastic (we had no technology then), I still had to create the correct amount of skid, hook and roll.  It was simply about bowling and understanding bowling from a very basic point without the aid of weight blocks or super strong coverstocks.  This concept has never gone away from the game.  Even Robert Smith with 80,000 revs doesn't carry all the time so that still shows he's not creating the proper amount of skid, hook and roll needed to strike with.
