wanting to try something new..can you help?
« on: January 23, 2008, 10:23:05 AM »
Greetings!

Been a long time Track fan for many years.  Looking for a new ball.  Cracked my Track Rule last night in league.  My specs are in my profile.  Looking for a med - med/heavy oil ball.  Just doing my research to see what is out there.  Possibly looking at Lane #1 (anything you guys might be able to suggest), The Rising by Track, or the NV Line by Ebonite.  Current average is 187.  My advanced thanks for your suggestions.  I currently throw the Track Mutant as my primary oil ball but am willing to switch if the right ball comes up.  When the lanes become toast I throw Track Desert Heat.

PS  I took last year off due to having a right total hip replacement.  I'm 38 and I feel stronger now and can bowl more consistently now that my hip pain is gone.

Again thanks for your help.

Hey Brian,

Our Rising would be a great piece to replace your Rule.  It is still reactive like the Rule but even stronger with better hitting power.  You can even get more out of it (if desired) because it comes 4000 oob.

Remember this vid of the Rule?

I could do this with my Rising as well if not a tad sooner.  If you pick one up, pm me and I'll help with a layout.  Thanks...

Hey Rick,

Thanks for the info.  Yes I am definitely towards The Rising.  It has been awhile since I have posted here.  Any help you can give in layout would be a great help.  I use to get my advise from Chuck Gardner, but I have not talked to much since he moved from Virginia to NC and I from Virginia back to PA.  I know get lessons from a guy here in Lancaster and he thinks The Rising would be a good ball for me too! Off topic, I have a 2nd Mutant I was given by Chuck a couple years ago which I never got replugged.  This one is 15lbs with a pin-in placement.  The CG is about 1/2 inch next to the pin.  My other Mutant is 14 lbs. and has a stacked leverage layout.  Any suggestions for what I might do with the 2nd one?  I was thinking about a layout with the pin above the fingers and kicking out the MB just a bit and maybe polishing it up just a bit to.  Trying to get a bit more length when the lanes start to break down.  It is just a thought.  Any ideas? If you don't think this is a good idea let me know.  I appreciate your help.  Thank You.

Hey Brian,

If it's a pin in as you describe, drilling it pin above fingers would be somewhat difficult as that would cause a high amount of finger weight (not sure if all can be removed to be USBC legal).

I'd suggest a pin under bridge but keep the mb closer or pretty tight next to thumb (then polish).  This should still give you a fair amount of separation from your 1st one at stack-lev.  Hope this helps some...

Please feel free to come over to Trackbowling.com as that is where Carl and I do most of our work in Tech Suppport, thanks.

sidenote: Saw Chuck at Expo(Vegas) in June, he's a blast.  I used to cover for him for Tech questions when he would go on vacation.

Rick,

Thanks again for the info.  I totally forgot about the finger weight.  Thanks for pointing that out to me.  I like your suggestion.  Will keep you updated.

Hey Rick,

Got my 2nd Mutant drilled up as you suggested...wow.  Threw it the other night when everything else wasn't working.  I prety much played right of the gutter around the 1st board.  Shot 215 without breaking a sweat, would have been 230+ had I not threw a split in the 10 frame due to lack of concentration.  Thanks for your help.  It definitely give me a completely different look.  Recieved my tax refund check and will be ordering "The Rising".  Can't wait.  Thanks again.

Cheers!
