Rule.....
« on: August 03, 2004, 07:17:23 PM »
I know this is premature because I only threw a few games with this but I have to tell you guys about this ball.

Specs: 4.25 x 4mb(strong pos), pin 3 inches up from midline over ring, out of box.  I chose this pattern to see how strong the ball could be instead of mellowing it out like my other stuff.

For having a little higher rg, this ball revs up...a lot.  It skids very cleanly thru any kind of headoil and at 45 ft, LOOK OUT!  It just came charging back with authority.  I threw it on the carry down lane (see pattern on that thread) where I had to tighten up with the FreakaZoid, Sheer and my Untamed but not this bad boy.  I had 15 out on the carrydown lane, I'm not kidding, VERY IMPRESSIVE.  I stood in the same spot, threw my Untamed(4.75 x 2.75mb) and the ball took out the 3-6 pocket while the Rule just kept coming back to the pocket.  I moved 5 left, hit it little and it came back even harder...man, this ball was something else.  One of friends was watching me(Hunt94501), maybe he'll jump in and tell you but all we could say was "wow".  I'm definitely going to play with this ball some more before I post a mini.  Didn't mention the O/U lane because that was just silly, it was making u-turns on that and smashing as well.  So far it looks VERY nice....didn't see any hang from swinging deep inside while the other balls did....a "fluffer's" dream come true.

Bully and Rule are totally different pieces of equipment.

Traumabill is correct about the core of the Bully. SO, the cores are of two totally different strengths.

Asking the C300 rep at the trade show a few weeks back if they 2 coverstocks are identical he says "No, Track's Rule will roll up sooner and stronger than the Bully".

According to Track and C300, the Goo Coverstock is exclusive to Track. Also, this is just my guess, but I feel that C300 had the core of the Bully go "LESS" asymmetrical because they own Track and Track makes the best asymmetricals on the market right now.

The Bully's weight block is symmetrical however, Columbia was
able to get the cylinder and the cone to weigh out equal.

Thanks for the info Bill, I kind of figured that since there was no mb marking but now the question is why have that shape?  Does that actually spin faster/slower then identical pieces attached to both sides?  Just trying to understand the overall design.

I also have the understanding that "GOO" was for Track only.  I don't know the exact differences between the 2 covers though technically.  Marketing the Bully as symmetrical only makes sense, why compete with yourself?  Bruns was doing this for a while when they kept Revolution as their asym/International division and kept their domestic stuff symmetrical.  I think the Rebel was the first US release under Revolution, talked to Danny Wiseman in Vegas when this was introduced at the last (free)Pro Source tourney.

Rick,

I'm not real sure why that shape was chosen.  I haven't spun
a Bully to see how it spins...I do know that C300 plans to really expand
the Bully line and maybe this is the baseline of things to come similiar
to Morpheus.  My guess is it would spin maybe a little faster...

Since Ex's rep stated that Goo was different and mine said it was the same,
I'm going out on a limb here...C300 and BASF did develop a new resin, so
maybe all three (AMF, C300, Track) has slightly different versions of this..

Time will tell...

The GOO coverstock was picked by the Track personal. And believe it or not Columbia , Track and AMF all compete against each other. Fact!

I definitely understand the competition between AMF because they're not owned by Columbia, they're just making the covers for them.  However, interesting point on how far one would go in competition with itself.  Would you go so far as to try and put one of your own divisions out of business?  That wouldn't make sense to me...just my thoughts.

PS. IMHO, since the participants in our sport have a fair amount of loyalty to  particular manufacturers, this would be a little difficult to happen.

They used to just make covers for them, but doesn't Columbia own AMF300 now?

Thanks for the correction guys, didn't even know.  I know AMF was bought out..."again".. by another Corporation a while back.  They were at my bowl measuring out the property.
