Where's the Skid Snap??
« on: August 06, 2004, 11:01:18 PM »
I am looking over track's present line up and i can't seem to find any ball that really does compare to the Freak-Out?!

In all of the ball descriptions the balls motions/reactions are all listed as" ARC, or Strong ARC" nothing snaps anymore from track?

The freak out of probably one of the strongest cores to be placed inside a pearl ball in ages. Why have they not released a new version of it?
I know the Phenom unleashed was sharper on the backends than the phenom was but, it still was not as clean thru the heads as the freak out was.

Rick, or anyone else want to comment?

well i listed my tilt as varries, but it is in reality i do have fairly little tilt. I have gone from tracking low( pap at 4') to now having a PAP at 5, and having almost little side roll. I made a drastic change in my grip, going to no inserts and zero reverse on my thumb and using either zero or 1/16 outside on my thumb. I am going to try some outside on my thumb on the next ball. I do have a rule sitting in my shop with a great pin distance. I presently have a freak a zoid, and rule sitting in my shop. also a storm recharge on the way.

If i do drill the rule you would suggest a long pin distance above my fingers, maybe 5inches from my pap and the MB in the strong position and try a coat of polish.

I have a ball that goes long and snaps hard( ego with 4 1/2 pin(long pin distance of 4 1/2)stacked, my pin is 1 1/5 above my fingers).

I need something with a little less length.

Yes, the Crash is a very nice length w/ backend ball but I don't know if I could say that a Crash has less length than an Ego.  The Ego seemed to be a stronger ball to me.  I still like the Rule or Untamed for this job and I would also place the pin above the ring with mb in a strong pos with some polish(if needed).  I'd say to try it first OOB, as that is always easier to maintain if it works.

I'm currently trying to help someone who has placed the pin left of centerline (under mid finger) like some of his other balls but the Rule is not moving at all.  Wondering if it's due to the Rev-Lever core/placement.  All I'm currently sure of is, if you keep the block on the positive side, this ball will move a ton when it finds dry.  Hope this helps Timothy...sorry, I mean DUDE....

Dude, maybe this will give you a little help too. Last summer I practiced coming up the back of the ball and playing right of board no matter how much they hooked. Give you a whole new respect for Mika. This summer I am practicing what I call the Steve Jaros death grip. Hold your hand in a suit case grip and cock your wrist slightly outward. Gives the ball a wierd spin but more length and snap. It really carries all kinds of crap to. This will give you more tilt and more carry. I found that it is not that easy to do but I don't give up easily. Try it and be patient.
