Title: Rule and carrydown

I have a birthday coming up at the end of the month, so naturally a bowling ball sounds like a good idea to ask for.  I haven't had a new ball since the Freak Out and the Rule is really catching my eye.  I want a ball that can handle medium/heavy oil, and can handle moderate amounts of carrydown. I never see true heavy oil, so this ball seems like it would fit.  I've heard good things about this ball and after reading Precision's review, I really want to get one.
So for all the Tracksters, how well can the Rule and the Goo handle carrydown?  Also, any other info or praises of this ball is well appreciated.

Depends on how much carrydown you get. If there is any dry at all the Rule will work. Remember it is reactive. Sanding it will help. I personally like sanded reactives or low load particles for heavy oil conditions and am drilling up a Rule next week. If you have a tough time with carrydown however, the Animal is your answer there. Depends on the amount (carrydown) and don't try to go around it. That is not the answer. Check out BTM 2004 and read Mo's article. Hope this helps.

I don't see all that much carrydown, mostly in a few college tournaments. It's nothing I haven't been able to work around yet.  Sanding the ball down a touch sounds like a good plan too, this may just be my next ball.  Thanks for the help, and anyone else feel free to chime in.

This is a great post for tenpinspro (aka mini me, aka Rick) to chime in on. Rick falls into that "stroker" category and he will be able to give you an idea of how well the Rule will handle carrydown.

From my experience------reactives are better for carrydown because they save up so much more energy for later down the lane than particles do. I have stated MANY times that the Animal is my favorite ball, probably ever....but for carrydown it does not usually have enough punch (because when there is carrydown usually the heads are drier) in the backends to get through the carrydown.

From everything I have heard about the Rule it will fit nicely when you have carrydown present. I have not thrown one yet, so once again, Rick will chime in and let you know for sure.

Hey Dan,

As "Big Me"(EX) thinks, the Rule does eat thru the carrydown very well.  Just as Ex explained about particle vs resin, resins simply can store better energy for downlane reaction.

I've now listened to BowlDoc's comment on the cover being "retarded" strong, Precision's "having SO much fun throwing it" and my description of the ball being "stupid" off any kind of dry is about the best I can tell you that we all pretty much see the same thing.  This ball is very strong but is very controllable at the same time.

I haven't seen a ball with this much recovery but with length (both in one) in a long time, it's definitely an asset to the bag.

Wonderful, I love it when I'm not planning on getting any new equipment and something like this comes along to change my mind.  I think I'm pretty well sold on this ball now.  With my pro shop guy being on Track's pro shop staff, I'm sure he is going to love drilling out this ball for me.  Thanks everyone for all the help.

Hey Jeremy,

Be prepared to move left at least 5-6 boards and target maybe only about 2, yes 2.  On clean backs, you can literally stand left and throw right with this ball with ease...pls keep us posted.  I'd like to know if you get the same reaction as I did, thanks.

Sorry jeremy,

Didn't mean to mislead you but when I tried it on my fresh backend shot, it hooked even harder than the carrydown shot.  Maybe your oil density is a little thicker then mine too.  I guess averaging 237 will just have to do for now...(sigh)  Good shooting bud...
