Rule Cover Change

I hear a lot of talk that the Rule is a super hook monster and that many of you find it hard to control without modifying the cover stock.

What changes have you guys made and what success have you achieved afterwards ?

I got one for Christmas and need some ideas.

I have 3. 2 of them are out of box, and the other has Magic Shine on it. The one with Magic Shine and one of my 2 OOB surface Rules are drilled exactly the same, pin under ring, cg in palm, mass bias left of the thumb ( I am right handed). The one with Shine goes noticeably further and turns harder, but skates on a fresh house shot where the OOB surface Rules can handle the fresh shot. I can go to the shined up Rule after a few games and pick up where I left off with the OOB Rule(s).

lefty,

I am not sure that the Rule is a "super hook monster", but it is awesome on just about every condition other than the heaviest of oil. The Rule has some length built in, this helps it get down the lane and have more backend and angularity than any dull ball I have thrown TO DATE.

The Rule that I have and use on heavier house shots is sanded to 1000. This still allows for some length but helps get the ball into a strong roll at the same time.

For most bowlers the Rule is going to be a very strong ball. This is particularly true for slower ball speeds or stronger hands. I have not found that it is too difficult to control. <<<<<The polished Rule that I have tends to react very similiarly to the Xception without as strong of a bite on the backends. The Rule takes cover changes very well, so try it as is and adjust from there.

Hey lefty, please remember everybody is different within their style and the conditions that they encounter.  You may or may not need to make any adjustments.  I always like to recommend bowlers to try the ball first as is and then see what adjustments you may need to make after that.

The Rule is a very strong resin ball but if it doesn't see dry, it doesn't really pull up "that" hard.  My GP2 is definitely a stronger reacting ball "in" oil being that it is particle.  Hope this helps explain some..
