Rule cover tweak?
« on: September 27, 2004, 06:03:22 PM »
Ok.. I've really had a decent opportunity to work with both my AU and Rule and as I have said in the past, with the drillings that I have on the Rule, it will end up being more of a control type of ball than the AU will be. At this point, I'm really happy with the length that I am getting out of the Rule, however, I would like to tame down the back end just a little bit to make it more of a control ball than it already is yet keep the length that I am currently getting out of it. What is the best way to accomplish this, considering the ball is in box finish and I don't want to make any weight adjustments?

Hey Aris,

The closest thing I can think of is to try and take it down to maybe 800, 600 may be too much and make you lose skid and 1200 may take you too long and give you an even stronger finish on the back.  Do you have negative side on this ball already?  I can't remember...if you have any positive weights in it, then that would be the correct thing to do without altering the surface which will not alter your length, just the backend reaction.  Hope this helps...

Rick,
The ball checked in at close to 2oz of negative side, which of course, we took quite a bit out of with a weight hole. It was still left with some negative which should have tamed down the back end a bit. I would hate to see what this ball would do with something like some positive side in it. After finally getting a really good chance to get looks at both balls, even with the mistake in drilling, I have places for both and I think that after a little tweaking, the Rule will set up perfect for something on the drier side. It gets great length with awesome recovery and reminds me quite a bit of my Threat. I was considering polish for the ball but I fear that it will take too much of the length away. I forget.. what is the box condition of the ball? I'm afraid that if I take it down, I will lose the length that I like but if I polish it up, I may give it too much. I should just come up for a visit, Rick. haha!
