Rule GP2- Pick my layout...
« on: December 27, 2004, 09:40:10 PM »
Hey Guys,

I just got my Rule GP2 in the shop last night and the dim lightbulb went off in my head.  I want some feed back to how to drill this ball or basically what do you guys want to see compared to my Rule and Xception.  Here's the layout on the balls..sorry, I have vids on the Xception except the PC that has the app to run and utilize it is still out of commission.  I'll hopefully have it soon to post visual comparisons again.

Rule  4.25x4mb 3 inches above midline
Xception  4 1/8x4mb 3 1/8 above midline

I drilled them very similar to get a true feel on their differences.  Should I keep it the same or close to see the difference in cover and core strength?  I do know that I don't want to drill this to roll early because of the higher rg rating, that would kind of defeat the purpose of the design and I don't even know if I could fight that 2.57 rating.  Give me some thoughts and we'll see what happens, worse come to worse, I'll just have to plug it if I don't like it and I know of this pretty good pro shop to go to...in OHIO!..

I drilled two last night and I will throw them today and let you know how they compare to my Rule, Exception, and Animal. All are drilled very close.

The higher Rg shouldn't make the ball go any further because the added diff will make the ball flare more and earlier.

Rick,

You love getting equipment before I do>>>>>because you know it eats me up.

What I would like to see you do with the ball is drill it one of 2 ways. #1- See if what people have been saying is true, drill it similiar to what you have your Animal and check out the difference. #2- Drill it similiar to your Rule. This will show us how much sooner it starts up than the Rule, and if it can still open up the lane well.

Speaking of pro shop in OHIO.....I was advertising for a pro shop in Cali today, wearing the tenpinspro shirt.

Rick, I would like to see how close this would be to the Animal so, I agree with EX, drill the same as the Animal.

Maybe this will help. Most people on this forum say that they like the Morepheus core balls drilled with the pin below the fingers. I don't really agree with that. I don't hook the ball a lot either as tenpinspro knows from our conversions. The only ball that I have with the pin below the fingers is an Unleashed and I ordered it with a 1" pin. These Morepheus core balls roll so nice with the pin above the fingers and store up a good amount of energy. They read the conditions in the back end better than any of the other products out there and we should take advantage of that, not just how much can I make this ball hook. Half of the big hook drillings roll out anyways. Track products are X-ceptional on PBA conditions and all house conditions except the biggest flooded walls and everyone uses old junk on them anyways. Therefore, my vote, Rick, is for some type of drilling with the pin above the finger. The ball will be more versatile and cover changes work more readily. Let's let the new Rule do the work it is supposed to do.

Alright guys, after looking at the ball specs, it has about a 4 inch pin so trying to force the pin under like my Animal would necessitate pulling out too much weight to keep it legal for what I want.  It does however fit almost perfectly to drill like my Rule and Xception so I can still get a comparison in that sense.  I'm going in now to punch it up and will try to throw in league tonite, will get back to you guys with what I see.
