Heat Blast help...
« on: October 17, 2006, 07:47:03 AM »
hey guys, in the past couple of weeks, I've started to develop more and more hand/revs.  My Equation was perfect a month and a half ago when I didn't put as much on the ball, but now its starting to be a little too much for the dry shot at my house.  Its starting to hook towards the head pin rather than the pocket unless I put more muscle into the ball.

I want to get a Heat Blast (hopefully this deal goes down in the sale forum) and drill it to play straight up the 5-10 boards.  My Equation is drilled 4x2 with pin above ring finger and I like to play 15 board to 5 board and back though my real comfort zone is straight up the 5-10 boards.

Can you guys suggest a drill pattern for a Heat Blast?

Oh sorry.

Than I would go for the Heat Blast, soultion series, or Inertia. Ask clint for a good layout, he a down and in guy and should know a good layout for the Inertia since he got 15 of them drill already and 1-2 coming this sataurday.

My heat blast is my benchmark ball now. Pin above and in between the fingers cg kicked and a weight hole about 2inches from the thumb area. It goes long and turns nice on medium to light oil. Dry backend I move a little right, longer shots I move a little more left. As long as the oil is not to heavy I can usually find a shot. I've used it all three games on THS. Mine has a 4inch pin. Its not a dry lane ball. I'd go for a desert heat for that. 2cents.

Noy, your Equation is drilled 4X2 right?? Its a strong drill so, either another Equation or Blast with a 5X4 drill will be alot different and weaker for ya. This will make a big difference.

Thats what I was thinking.  But what would be better, a medium oil ball drilled for dry, or a true dry oil ball?

Also, would a true dry oil ball have to be drilled strong to make it move on the conditions it was made for?

I personally have never found a true dry lane ball that I thought was worth my time. I havent liked any of them. For me a medium ball like a Blast with a drilling like I suggested (5X4 or a 6X4 and maybe some extender polish) is my bread and butter for dryer lanes. When its too dry for that, plastic is the way to go. I had a polished Freak-A-Zoid with a 5X4 drilling and I used to love when the lanes dryed up becasue, that ball with that drilling was money! Actually, I have won some nice pots with that ball on those conditions. I will also use more speed and different hand positions with it also until I cant use it any more and its time for plastic. Some like true dry lanes balls but, I am not one of them.

How about a Heat Blast with this drill and some Magic Shine?

Personally for me the Heat is a more agressive ball than the Heat Blast is.  Here is a picture of there layouts.

I just got an Arsenal Artilley yesterday (sorry no pics yet).  I have it drilled with the pin above the middle finger with the cg kicked out to about 4 o'clock.  My goal is to get it to fit in between my Desert Heat and my Heat Blast.  Personally I think it will work after I sanded it to 2000 grit and put a couple coats of either delayed reaction or protrackon polish on it.  May even drill a weight hole to remove some of the thumb weight.  To help tone it done a bit.
