dulling an X-ception? Good or bad idea?
« on: November 14, 2004, 04:47:33 AM »
I was wondering if anyone has took a scotchbrite to an x-ception yet? I know its a new ball and not many people have it, but was just wondering..

I just drilled one up last night and use it this morning and the ball does have a nice roll to it, but was wondering what it would be like dulled up a little bit..

I did it once.  At the time, the two Rule's I had were a little too dull but there was a lot of oil downlane.  I hit it very lightly with a burgundy scotchbrite.  Reacted pretty nicely.  Not as early as the two Rules but definately a tad earlier and stronger downlane.

I hit pearls with scotchbrite quite often.  I hit them very lightly, just enough to knock the polish off and get the ball to read the lane a little earlier.  The Xception has been strong enough so far to not need the surface other than that one time.

I am going to get another Xception and put a more "control" layout on it, and probably touch the surface a bit.

Just wanted to post this about the X-ception.

This ball is NOT for fresh patterns when the oil is fairly heavy. My monday night league house decided to put done a heavier oil pattern last night and I tried the X-ception the entire first game and could never find a place on the lane to play. I am going to try to scuff it up a bit and try it again next Monday.

I know most people that want to buy this ball know this already, just wanted to confirm.
