Rule vs. Bully
« on: August 17, 2004, 08:11:50 AM »
I was wondering if any of you have seen both the Rule and Columbia's Bully. From what I've been reading, they are both reactives that act similar to particles. I got to see a Bully in action Friday. Wasn't box finish but still had nice control, hit and backend. The Rule hasn't been released in my area yet, so I haven't seen one. The Bully just hit Friday and a guy I bowl with gets everything as soon as he can. These are the only 2 balls I'm considering for my fall leagues. If anyone has any input I'd love to hear it.

That's the kind of feedback I need. It's hard to decide what to get without actually having the chance to have the balls drilled and see their reactions before you buy them. I already have 2 strong Track products and 1 Columbia thatI have had success with. This won't be an easy decision.

if there is any dry at all in the back end the Rule should be an awesome ball. With the rev lever on the left side it will open the lane up nicely. However, it there is a lot of carrydown the Animal is the answer. I personally like sanded reactives or low load particles. For carrydown conditions try to get something drilled that will roll in the mid lane (Rule should be good) that will leave a little snap for the carrydown. I just drilled a Freak-A-Zoid like that for medium house with carrydown and it works even better than I thought it would. Hope this helps.

Speaking to a C300 rep at the Trade Show a few weeks ago he says that the Bully is best used on a fresh house shot. According to him the Bully absolutely needs dry in the backends to have movement. From what I am hearing of the Rule, the Rule will start up well and be very continuous through carrydown. Not so much flippy or extremely angular when played in the oil.

If you think you are going to be on a tighter shot, go with the Rule.
